| Office 2007 Volume License
Would like to confirm the following; 1) For each user that has an Office 2007 Volume License they can also install it on a laptop for their own use? 2) Is it just 1 laptop? i.e. what if a person has a travel laptop and a different one they use at home for work? 3) If I have a workstation with an Office 2007 Open License that has 2 users that work opposite shifts. Is just the one license ok? Also they have a vehicle that has a mobile laptop in it that they both use - can that Office 2007 license be installed on that laptop as the secondary use device? Thanks, Brad |

| Re: Office 2007 Volume License
Volume license is for a specific number of installations. It doesn't matter what you do with it as long as you don't exceed the licensing terms. So if your license is for 5 systems, then you can install on 5 systems only . NOT more. However, people tend to forget how many systems they have especially when they can't count up to 5 so they always exceed this number and MS hasn't got means to check on this. Steve Ballmer used to visit his customers at home to check this but he has given up as there are so many houses to visit!!. hth Brad wrote: >Would like to confirm the following; > >1) For each user that has an Office 2007 Volume License they can also >install it on a laptop for their own use? > >2) Is it just 1 laptop? i.e. what if a person has a travel laptop and a >different one they use at home for work? > >3) If I have a workstation with an Office 2007 Open License that has 2 users >that work opposite shifts. I think what I'm looking for is "Secondary Install Rights" or "Portable Use Rights". I think it still applies to Office 2007 Pro Volume Licensing - but not sure. | Re: Office 2007 Volume License
No, I told you what it is. For each volume license you have, you can provide ONE "Work at Home" installation. You need one license for each PC at work. It matters not whether it is laptop or desktop. You seem to be confusing the the FFP Retail license(which confers the right to install on a Primary device, AND a second installation on a Portable device for the exclusive use of the primary user of the Primary installation) with the Volume licening. So 1. NO, unless it is the Work At Home program. 2. NO, it is ONE PC. 3. First half is YES, 2 people can use the PC. The second half is NO, you ONLY have ONE license. Found this on the Volume Licensing site for Office Pro Plus 2007. "Portable Device. You may install a copy on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device." Also confirmed with Microsoft on the phone. "Bob I" wrote: > No, I told you what it is. For each volume license you have, you can > provide ONE "Work at Home" installation. Could you provide a link to that, mine keeps resolving to the Work at Home content. Thanks Brad wrote: > Found this on the Volume Licensing site for Office Pro Plus 2007. > > "Portable Device. | Re: Office 2007 Volume License
Never mind found it. Seems a bit different than last year. http://www.microsoftvolumelicensing....ocumentId=2557 It looks to me like you need to "firm up" your questions. In #1. Personal use, or work use? in #2. You would need "Work at Home" to do the second one. and # 3. Who is the "Primary user" and then only they could use it.
