Word and Excel 2007 SLOW on Vista

I had purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop. I bought it online. With that I also ordered Microsoft Office Home edition. The laptop came with Windows Vista installed on it. The laptop is new so the performance is obviously fine. But Office looks to be working extremely slow. I am not able to edit my old files. I have old files that are saved on 97-2003 format. Whenever I try to open the same it takes around 3 to 4 minutes to open the file. I need some help here. The office suite is freezing like hell. Can anyone tell me how to boost the performance.

Try to check in Task Manager. There can be some background services which are responsible for the same. You must try to run the repair setup once again and then check back. I am sure it will help you. Do you have antivirus installed in your system. If yes then try to disable that for sometime. It will enhance the performance.
