sending an e-mail using a contacts name in the address bar

I noticed that the manager at where i work is able to start typing a name and
it would auto populate the suggested e-mail and i was wondering how the
program does it because I can't get my personal version to do it with all my
contacts saved into the program. EX:
He would start to type "Smith" and it would have "Smith, John
(jsmith@hotmail.com)" and he could hit down and tab but mine I have to type
the address and names don't work. i would like to know how to set the program
to do that...

Thanks for any help, Ace

Is your default account an HTTP account?(Hotmail)

Tools->options->email options->advanced->suggest names (autocompletion) -
for autoresolution, automatic name checking, same tab.

(Note - i may have these backwards - it is very late here)

Re: sending an e-mail using a contacts name in the address bar

Yes, My account is Hotmail, I meant to say that in the first post but I
accidently said outlook instead of Hotmail, That is why I mentioned the
outlook connector thing being installed. I'm not sure if it is HTTP or not
seing on how the outlook connector thing is there, I know it was before I
installed the Add-On.

I checked the area below and this is what I found:
Tools->Options->"Preferences" tab->"E-Mail" section, E-Mail
Options...->Advanced E-mail Options...->
"Automatic Name Checking" and "Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and
Bcc fields" both are checked.

Re: sending an e-mail using a contacts name in the address bar

Many of the options in Outlook only work with POP3 and Exchange accounts.
IMAP and HTTP (hotmail) accounts don't get the full integration with
Outlook.
