How can I recover a 2007 word document I replaced?

I have recently replaced an important document on my laptop with the notes for the document under the same name that were on my USB. Is there anyway of recovering the document that I have replaced? Thanks.

Incase you have copied the file from the USB onto your laptop then the laptop files might be overwritten and hence cannot be recovered. You might need to have a program that will search the hard drive for the text within the original document and hope that you will recover that way. Did you simply deleted the original file it could have been recovered but an overwritten file is normally gone for good.
