Microsoft Office 2007 Product Key Not Working Because Of The Trial

I was looking for the product key for the program and it took me to a trial
version which i thought for some reason that the key that it gave me was the
one it needed to be able to accsess the whole program...when i found the real
product key on the bottom of my computer i tried to enter it and it said that
it was wrong....how do i fix this without buying a new program?....i did make
a backup cd before all this happened for my whole computer....i dont have the
original disc for the program because it was pre-installed...if i have to
uninstall the program...would the backup disc reinstall it so i can enter the
original product key?

The key on the bottom of the laptop is for the operating system, NOT
Office. Did you buy Office? If so, use the key that was provided or
contact the PC manufacturer Tech Support. If you didn't buy Office, you
don't have a license to use it.

i just purchased a lap top thats it...so i cant use it at all?...then what is
the product key on the bottom for...cuz it says proof of license next to it

What don't you understand by "operating system"? The key on the bottom of
your laptop is for WINDOWS not OFFICE. Office is NOT an operating system

well thats crap...y would they install the damn program and then not allow
you to use it...the trial version wont even let me do anything either

Well it's NOT "crap". The people who sold you the laptop are the ones who
can tell you where the product key is.

I think I covered it all. Operating system is Windows XP or Windows
Vista unless this is a really old laptop. And if you read the rest of
the info on the sticker, it says what it is for. You answered the
question in the negative, so if you have further questions about what
you bought in the package, contact the PC manufacturer Tech Support.

my problem is similar.. I purchased ms office pro 2007, and installed it on my desktop.. for some reason it won't install on my laptop. my laptop is a dell studio 1537 and won't even recognize the disk.. I tried copying it all to an external drive to try to execute from there but I get a missing lph.dll error.. I don't know what to do without buying another ms office..

The often cited solution is to save any critical work, uninstall the trial
version, run a downloadable (From MS) "cleanup utility, and install the
"real" Office from the CD.
Originally, it might have been possible to obtain just a "Key" from the OEM
to change the trial to a full version, but the full version would have
usually been a student teacher or student home version only. By trying to
install a full version over the trial, things got messed up enough to screw
up/ eliminate the option to use just an upgrade "key" to modify the student
teacher version. (I went thru this hassle with an HP laptop before a
cleanup utility was available, and had all kinds of fun getting rid of the
no commercial use messages in some of the office apps.) It turned out that
the office registry entries were not cleaned up properly by the uninstall
process and the cleanup utility did most of the registry cleanup. There were
an uncounted high number of office related registry entries that remained
after the uninstall process.

(Major MS created problem in my opinion.)
