    error 1913 cannot update windows/win.ini

Yesterday I bought a Office Professional 2007 disc. When I’m trying to install it, It keeps saying the following:

“Error 1913: Setup cannot update file C:/windows/win.ini.
Verify that the file exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions to update it.”

So far I tried installing it as an admin, restarted PC several time, cleaned even the new disk, but nothing helped. When I contacted Microsoft for the same, they are asking me for the product code but as I haven’t installed the office yet how can I give them the product code?

Any idea what is the cause of the problem and how can I fix it?

Hi, I manage to get this fixed by disabling my antivirus on my pc/laptop. in this case it's Officescan Trendmicro, and retry.

    it worked!
