    Office hangs ("officelifeboathang")

I recently installed MS Office 2007 on my Windows XP SP3 running Lenovo T61 laptop. Installation went fine but there is a problem with all Office apps. Whenever I try to open any office program, it opens usual screen but wont allow me to type anything. And when I try clicking anywhere, the ribbon turns into XP’s classic them alike and says not responding. It wont even close. I manually need to kill process from task Manager in order to close it. As I said, this happens with all office applications.

This is what I found in my Event Viewer:
    Event Type: Error

Do you have Skype toolbar for Office installed on your computer? If yes, you will need to remove it. See if it works now. If yet not, then uninstall and reinstalled Office again.

    Microsoft Office Problem Resolve
    Saturday, February 27, 2010

    MS Office Hangs:
I uninstalled Comcast and Google Tool bars from Internet Explorer. One or both may be causing the problem. I opened Excel and Word 2007 after and had no more hanging or Normal.doc error messages. I know it sounds weird, but it worked for me. If you don't have those internet apps installed on Internet Explorer try uninstalling the tool bars that you added to Explorer and the add-on’s and see if it helps. If you use Mozilla Firefox do the same and see if MS Office works properly after. Don’t forget to restart.

I had an old computer repaired. I’ve been reinstalling applications one at a time. I noticed after adding tool bars to Internet Explore my computer started acting up. So I uninstalled ALL tool bars, and the problem went away. So I’m sharing. This may be the reason why Microsoft Updated won’t fix the problem because of third party application being added to Internet Explorer. I did the same removal on my other computer with Office 2007 and the problem stopped.

I hope this solution works for you if you have MS Office Apps hanging and error messages in Word about the application template Normal.doc.
