Opening files by double clicking takes for ever - Word, Excel

I've just upgraded our Terminal Server to Office 2007.

If I open a Word/Excel file by double clicking the document, the App opens
and sits there for a while. Then eventually the document opens, like in 40+
seconds.

If I have the App Open, it opens fast and I can open the file from the
Recent files and its quick. From stating of the App, to open Document, just
a few seconds.

Here is the Weird one. If I open a Word/Excel file by double clicking the
document, the App opens, then if I click the Office button, the document
opens right away and the Office button menu appears. So why clicking the
Office button does it make it load faster? What's it doing?

Thanks,
Scott<-

RE: Opening files by double clicking takes for ever - Word, Excel

Dear Scott,

From your description, I understand that it takes more than 40 seconds to
open a Word or Excel file after upgrading to Office 2007. In addition, you
found that clicking the Office button makes the file load faster. If there
has been any misunderstanding, please let me know.

Since the Word and the Excel are two different programs, the causes of our
issue may be different. To avoid any confusion, I recommend we focus on the
Word application first. We may troubleshoot the Excel issue after the Word
issue is resolved. Thank you for your understanding.

Regarding the opening Word file issue, I would like to explain that our
issue may be due to many factors such as attached template, network printer
or third party programs. To troubleshoot our issue, I recommend we follow
the steps below to perform a Clean Boot if it does not affect the usage of
the server:

This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading
program or service. Please perform the following steps:

a. Click Start and click Run, type "msconfig" in the Run box and press
Enter.
b. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box
and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
c. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".

Then, restart your computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window
appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System
Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.

d. Test if the issue occurs in Clean Boot.

Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup
programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't affect the system or other
programs. We may still manually run these programs later.

e. Please double click a Word file in Clean Boot mode.

To restore the computer to use a Normal Startup, repeat steps 1 above. Then
click Normal Startup on the General tab, click OK, and then restart the
computer.

If the issue is not resolved, I would appreciate it if you could provide
the following information:

1. Can the issue be re-produced after we log on the Terminal Server locally?

2. Is it convenient for you to disconnect the Internet Connection to test
whether the Word file is opened faster or not?

3. Is it convenient for you to update your printer driver as a test?
