Word and Excel Documents not opening properly

I am using Windows Vista. I had installed Microsoft Office 2007 and it looks everything is working well. But somehow I am facing trouble with Windows Update. I am not able to add any new software in that. After that another new problem just appeared. I cannot open files in Office. None of the docx and xlsx files are working. They are not opening at all. I need some help here. This problem started appearing suddenly while the same was working fine before.

I think the issue is due to third party addons on your office suite. I had faced the same thing in my office. I had added some addon which had made word extremely slow. Whenever I open it, it takes a long time to launch up completely on the screen. It is a bit annoying to work on the same. I disabled all the addons and things are fine. There is no issue with the performance rightnow.

Just run a repair setup of office and things will be resolved. At what point the office application freezes. Because you can see a message below scanning documents. That is the place where antivirus scans the document before it opens. So just for testing you can disable the antivirus and then check back whether the output is improved or not.
