I have just replaced two power supplies in 2 old identical computers at my school. One had just died and the other would keep rebooting (another school has found his to be a p/s issue)
The dead computer came alive fine but the one that was rebooting prior to the change won't start properly - it gives two short beeps followed by 6 normal ones and then nothing happens and there is no display. I have rechecked all the connections and have ensured that nothing has been dislodged.
I am considering swapping the p/s's over to see if that is the issue but these pcs are small and difficult for my big hands to work with so I am not rushing into that - plus we have another rebooting machine to be looked at -so i can try the p/s in that one next week.
I am wondering what those beeps might mean. Maybe the mobo is terminal!!
Thanks
PS - apologies if this is posted inthe wrong place.
