*** edit *** never mind I worked it out. Turned out the motherboard only supports up to 533Mhz and I got 800Mhz ram.
Hi guys,
Recently I upgraded from a 1GB DDR1 RAM to a 2GB DDR2 RAM. However my computer doesn't seem to recognise the extra 1GB of RAM. I spent a lot of time working out what my individual parts were and what was compatible with these parts. I thought I had it all solved but when I finally put the RAM in it didn't recognize the additional 1GB. Currently I have only the 2GB stick plugged in and it seems to run as well as when I only had the 1GB stick. When I right click on my computer and go to properties, in the general tab under Computer it says
"Intel(R)
Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz
3.39 GHz, 1.00GB or RAM"
The mother board I am using is an ASUS P5VDC-MX (http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...14&modelmenu=1)
The 2GB DDR2 RAM is Apacer 2GB DDR-II PC2-6400 (800Mhz) RAM, Desktop Memory (http://www.pcmarket.com.au/10037_Apa...esktop_Mem.php)
The old 1GB stick I *think* is a A-Data PC3200 1 GB (http://www.digitan.com.au/product.ph...at=1147&page=1)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
