Beeping Computer?

I am not sure if this is a mobo problem or what. I have a Compaq Presario 6350us. When I turn it on, the fans come on then one beep. The cpu fan shuts off and then I get one continuous beep. The Compaq screen comes up but doesn't boot. I checked the hard drive and it seems ok. Any ideas what the problem could be?

1, Refresh Failure, The memory refresh circuitry on the baseboard is faulty

Are there any messages other than the compaq logo on the screen? You can try pressing escape to see messages that are hidden by the compaq screen.

If there's a ton of dust inside, cleaning it out might help. Otherwise, you can try reseating or replacing the memory but it could mean you have to replace the motherboard.

i had this problem once. Does the continuous beeping keep going and then the computer just shuts off? Or does it beep and stay on without loading any further. When I had this problem it was because the cpu fan and heatsink had come loose. causing the cpu to overheat very quickly and the computer to shu itself down. usually while it was on the splash screen.
