I have read that if a BIOS upgrade causes malfunction, the only way to bring BIOS to its past status is trought a similar MB. If I do not find that blessed similar MB, I'll lose mine, I presume. Am I right??

Some manufacturers let you downgrade a BIOS to a previous version (i.e.Dell) but it depends on the exact motherboard.
Many people get in trouble flashing a BIOS just because there is a newer version, not because of problems they were having, or increased functionaliy they don't need, but just because it is available. When something goes wrong with the procedure it can be disastrous, and all for no good reason.
I hope you are not in that position, but what specifically did you do and what is the equipment involved?
Hi,
You can have a look on the Guide - How to update your BIOS ?, for your problem.
