A couple of days back I picked up 2 x 512mb CAS 2.5 Transcend DDR400 ram modules - runs at 2.5-3-3-6 - ran Memtest for 4 hours no errors.

I paid 1900/- per 512mb Transcend module with PSC ram chips - Kingston was 2700/- per 512mb module. But the Kingston was marked as CAS 3 ram. I insisted on getting ram modules with no signatures or cellophane tape on the ram chips. I hate it when the supplier has Silver marker pen signatures on ram chips - now they sign on chips and then put a cellophane tape over the sig. This must be the cause of a lot of computer problems.

Where ?? Those are way too low! The day I bought my new mobo, I found that 256meg kingston was costing 2K

Hmm...are u guys talking about PC-3200 kingston value ram right?

I've got PC-2700 CL2.5 and can decrease the CL to 2 .... i overclocked my memory to 198fsb.....11.5x198 = 2.2ghz..

I like my kingston...however if u re-check why kingston produced two line of memories you will find out ...one is top of the line i.e., HyperX (Awesome overclocker) and other is Kinston Value Ram (Basically for stock users).

So if u keep this thing in mind, everything is ok.

Yup it was DDR400 Kingston Value Ram that I saw for 4700/- per 512mb module. It was CAS 3.

I used Transcend 2 x 256 DDR400 earlier and when I install this along with my new 1 GB of Transcend ram and if I then overclock by even 1 mhz then PAT gets disabled as long as there are 4 modules installed on my ASUS P4C800E Deluxe MoBo. This board does not enable PAT when overclocking with 4 ram modules installed.

I'm building a new PC and only thing remains are the mobo and processor.

" - costs around Rs.10,200 (will bargain offcourse)

Stock is arriving around 12 Jan and currently only back2back order. So better wait till 12th as the prices are gonna fall (inside news)

I desperately wanted to buy the Asus A8V-E-Deluxe (with PCI Express card - Geforce 6600 256MB ~ Rs.9000) But this board is not available yet

Pocessor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 939 costs around Rs.10,000+ , L2 Cache 512KB

I was so dejected that I didn't care to ask about the AGP 6600 gfx card.

those idots @ Lamington rd just don't know anything I had a heated argument over A8V-E-Deluxe. They confused me. I asked him if A8V Deluxe comes with PCI Express and he says yes

I checked ASUS site and it's AGP8x

MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum, now backordered against 100% payment at a dealer in andheri.
Price tag, dont even ask. freakin Rs.11750. Cant really understand this pricing.
At first i had hopes of this board comming at around 9-10K but this price is also confirmed by 2 other dealers here.
And as usual support for MSI sucks in india. Took my MSI NF2 board 2 months to get replaced/repaired or whatever they did.

and what's difference between fsb and hypertransport

Hypertransport is the communication between chipset and A64 CPU. A64 has different settings for FSB and hypertransport.
FSB will determine your Front side bus. If you increase FSB by keeping multiplier same you are overclocking your CPU. Changing FSB also changes RAM operating frequency.
HTT determines speed at which CPU communicates with the motherboard chipset.
