ASRock 970 extreme4 not stable with FX-8350 processor

I am using a ASRock 970 extreme4 with Amd FX-8350 processor. I have also got some a 450W power supply with 4gb ram of 1600mhz. Also have a Geforce 660Ti graphics card. Have installed Windows 8 64 bit. When I am overclocking with Prime95 software then within 1 minute or so 2 cores will fail. When I was doing a manual overclocking then it was working fine without any issues. Can anyone tell me whether there is some problems with the motherboard and the processor? Thanks for any help.

I guess that the ram might be unstable with the processor. What you can do to overlock is, try to disable the cool n quiet and turbo feature. Also disable the thermal throttling and set LLC at 1/2. You might also try to set the RAM timings or else your motherboard will try to stabalize the RAM to match with the CPU multiplier.

I would say to start with overclocking to stock or Auto at 1.3v+. Since the different cores in your system is filing then you can try to raise the memory voltage to 0.05 at a single time and then try to test in between. I will also suggest you that instead of raising the memory controller voltage, you can try to raise the stick voltage and check the difference.

If you are looking for overclocking then the motherboard of ASRock 970 extreme4 that you have is not fit the high end Amd FX-8350 processor. You can try to go for asrock fatal1ty board that seems to be more powerful enough to match with the processor. Then there are also other boards like M5A99FX PRO or 990FX sabertooth that will surely give you a huge performance with that processor.
