HD 7850 not working in Asrock Z77 Pro3

The Asrock Z77 Pro3 board has PCIe 2.0 slot and also a PCIe 3.0 slot. No when I am trying to install the HD 7850 graphics card in the PCIe 3.0 slot then it will not give any output or signal to the monitor. The same card works in PCIe 2.0 slot without any problems. So, it definitely seems like there is an issue with the motherboards PCI-E 3.0 slot because I have heard that pcie 3 are backward compatible, so the card should work but it isnt. Or do I need to change some settings to get this card to work? Please help me out. Thanks.

Can you please tell us which motherboard BIOS version are you using in Asrock Z77 Pro3? I would recommend you to download the latest BIOS available for your board from this link - http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%2...ownload&o=BIOS. After that install the bios and then insert the graphics card in the PCIE 3.0 slot and check if the graphics card is working for you or not. Also, it would be good if you can tell us your complete computer specifications.

Even I agree to the above reply, that you will need to first install the latest bios available for your motherboard and then try to use the HD 7850 video card. If it is not working then try the same video card on other motherboard with pcie 3 slot and see if that works. If still it doesnt work then surely, you can make it out that your video card is at fault. Incase, if the video card works in another pcie 3 motherboard then it could be a problem with the Asrock Z77 Pro3 boards pcie 3.0 slot, so if it is in warranty then RMA it for a new board.

Before updating the BIOS, I would say that reseat the graphics card in PCIe slot and then disable the onboard graphics. Now you need to enusure that the correct PCIe slot is selected in the BIOS, in order to get the card working and detected at boot. Also firmly check whether the video card is properly seated or not. Also try to gently clean the graphics card contacts with an eraser or a rubber and then reseat the card firmly.
