Which is the best processor - Intel i5-3550 or i5-3570K or i5-2500k?

I am planning on buying a new processor for my PC. I was asking the computer technician about the good processors available for general use. He showed me Intel i5-3550, i5-3570K and i5-2500k. I am not much into technology, so I need help of people who have knowledge about the processors and they can tell me which out of these processors is good for use. Is there anybody out there who can help me?

You haven’t mentioned the amount of money you are ready to spend on the processor. But just for your information, let me tell you that Intel i5-2500k is the cheapest processor out of the three that you have mentioned. All the three processor are good for general use and differentiating these processors from one another is not necessary. Again the Intel i5-3570K is the costliest one out of these three processors. All the processors are of the same family and there is very slight difference among them. There might be slight difference like amount of cores or maybe overclocking capacity and so on.

If you are planning on the overclocking of these processors, then I’d say that you should go for Intel i5-3570K. This is the only processor that will overclock the best. You can actually get a difference of 1 GHz to 2.5 GHz. While in other of the processors, you will get overclocking not more than 0.2 GHz to 0.5 GHz. But as compared to Intel i5-3570K, Intel i5-3550 has good frequency on the stock settings. In other words you can say that i5-3550 is one such processor that will work great on long run. It is one of the best futureproof processors available in the market.

If other minor aspects about these processors is taken into consideration, then I’d say that you should surely go for the Intel i5-3550. Since it does not overclock, it has a good control over its own temperature. I can assure you that on the stock settings, there will never be any problem regarding the high temperature in your computer with Intel i5-3550 in it. If you need to use your computer for heavy processes like programming or compiling heavy codes, then I suggest you to use Intel i5-3550.
