Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 support on DQ77KB board

I have an Intel DQ77KB motherboard in my computer and I am planning to use Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 on this motherboard. I was reading the specifications and the compatibility of Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 on internet and it showed that it was not compatible with my motherboard, but the processor which was released prior to it, which is Intel Xeon E3-1260LV2 is compatible. I wanted to know if someone has tried combination of Intel DQ77KB motherboard and Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 who can tell me if it works right or not.

Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 is a 3rd generation Ivy Bridge processor which should be easily compatible with the Intel DQ77KB motherboard. Intel DQ77KB motherboard can easily support processors from this category according to my experience. I think if Intel has not mentioned Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2’s compatibility with Intel DQ77KB motherboard must be because of the graphic processor available in Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2. You will need an external graphic card as chances of the graphic processor of Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 not working with Intel DQ77KB motherboard are high.

Re: Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 support on DQ77KB board

I think that there has been some minor mistake in making the specifications and the compatibility list of the Intel DQ77KB processor as I don’t think that Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 should give any problem when working with this processor. This motherboard has One PCI Express 3.0 x16 bus card connector according to the specifications mentioned. But if you see its picture closely, you can observe that there is 1 x PCI-e x8 slot on it. So according to this, we can say that, except for graphic processor, Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 will give no problem when it is attached on Intel DQ77KB motherboard.

So according to your observations Cain, it means that graphic card is necessary to be used with Intel DQ77KB motherboard and Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 processor combination. But from the looks of the motherboard, it seems that we will have to also use a large sized cabinet. I think that placement of the PCI-E slots for graphic card is made such that it is obvious that some part of the graphic card will be protruding out of the motherboard. So to make space for this part, we will need to use a larger cabinet. I think having graphic cards with extra covering n it is going to make it more problematic for the people using it.
