Is MSI 945GCM5-F V2 compatible with Intel Quad Core 2.4GHz or 2.66GHz

My system is having MSI 945GCM5-F V2 motherboard and I am willing to update the processor for the same. I want to get Intel Quad Core 2.4GHz or 2.66GHz but I am not sure if it is compatible with the board or not. Is there anyone who can help me out in finding out the same?? I also wanted to know which processor will be the best for MSI 945GCM5-F V2 ? Help regarding this will be appreciative.

As far as the best processor is concerned I think “Intel Pentium 4 Processor 541 supporting HT Technology
(1M Cache, 3.20 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)” will be the best choice, the specification of the same are as followed:
    • Processor Number 541
    • # of Cores - 1
    • # of Threads - 2
    • Clock Speed - 3.2 GHz
    • L2 Cache - 1 MB
    • Bus/Core Ratio - 16
    • FSB Speed - 800 MHz
    • FSB Parity - No
    • Instruction Set - 64-bit
    • Supplemental SKU - No
    • Lithography - 90 nm
    • Max TDP - 84 W
    • VID Voltage Range - 1.200V-1.425V

I am currently using “Intel Pentium D Processor 950
(4M Cache, 3.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)” and it is just working great. It supports the below Advanced Technologies and that’s what makes it best.
    1. Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x)
    2. Intel 64
    3. Idle States
    4. Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology
    5. Execute Disable Bit

You can check out the specification of it here.

You can get anyone from the below ones, I think they are will work fine with MSI 945GCM5-F V2 and they are mentioned in its support list as well:
    • Intel Desktop Pentium 4 Cedar Mill microprocessor family
    • Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.73 GHz - JM80547PH1092MM (BX80547PH3730F)
    • Intel Pentium 4 560/560J 3.6 GHz - JM80547PG1041M (BX80547PG3600E)

As far as recommendation is concerned I will suggest you to go with Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.73 GHz - JM80547PH1092MM (BX80547PH3730F). You can check out a short specification of it below:
    • Frequency- 3733 MHz
    • Bus speed - 1066 MHz
    • Clock multiplier -14
    • Socket - Socket 775 (LGA775)
    • Data width - 64 bit
    • Number of cores – 1
    • Number of threads – 2
    • Level 2 cache size - 2 MB 8-way set associative cache with error-correction code
