which graphic card for my board gigabyte g31m-es2l

hi,
i have a gigabyte g31m-es2l and i wanted to add a graphic card 2 it
it supports on pcie x16 (which i guess is 1.0) but i did not find a pcie x16 card
i knw 2.0 cards are backward compatible but they get bottleneck
my question is how much will they get bottlenecked ?
below are 2 graphics

Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce 210 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card
Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card


i have made sure my psu has sufficient power.

Who told you that it has only PCI Express x1 slot, with it it also has a PCI Express x16 slot and 2 x PCI slots. Check the below image for the PCI Express x16 slot in which you can easily fit the Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce 210 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card or the Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card without it being bottlenecked. By the way which psu do you have anyways.

From where did you find that your gigabyte g31m-es2l motherboard has pcie x16 1.0 and not 2.0 slot? And if it has only pcie x16 1.0 then it wont be a good idea to go for the pcie x16 2.1. And 400 watts power supply is quite weak, you should go with atleast 600 watts or 500 watts + so that incase of electricity breakdown, there wouldnt be any damage caused for any hardwares. Which CPU you have by the way, and how many gb ram as well do you have?

i have revision 1.1 of this mobo and it says it has pcie x16 (so i think it is 1.0)
otherwise it would have said pcie x16 2.0

You can go for any reasonable DDR3 graphics card. Because PCIx16 is new slot and any latest gpu will work on it. Gigabyte G31M-ES2L has 1 x PCI Express x16 slot. The gpu on that basis depends on your budget. Some cards are Radeon 9250, ATi 5750 or 4870. This are quiet old card. If you want to check new ones that you can find information on the below link. There are three families of card that are provided they are GeForce GTX, GeForce GTS and GT and GeForce. While you can check some better gpu under HD 7000 or HD 6000 Series.

these number 3.0,1.1,2.1,2.0 what are they
isnt my motherboard having pcie x16 1.0
if,then will it be able 2 run pcie x16 2.1 card and 2.0 card thanks

Gigabyte g31m-es2l revision 1.1 simply means that it has a very old bios and you can also update it to the latest if you want, just download the appropriate bios version for your model number. If you want then you can also use the @BIOS tool to update the bios, see this thread - How to update bios on Gigabyte motherboards with @BIOS

Yes, it seems that your motherboard has pcie x16 1.0 slot for graphics card and not pcie x16 2.0. Although, any PCI Express 16X 2.0 graphics card will work on your motherboard, there isnt going to be much bottleneck. Just overclock your cpu to above 25% threshold and go with any video card of your choice to enjoy the full capability of it.

From the cards that you have listed to buy, that is the GeForce 210 and GeForce GT 520, both are not so good but if compared to each other then GT 520 obviously is a better peformer. Also 500 series card also support directx 11, so it will be a plus point to install windows 7 and play game likes Just Cause 2 that runs only on DX11.
