what is the maximum RAM limit in Dell XPS 17 L702X

I recently brought a Dell XPS 17 L702X Laptop with Intel HM67 Chipset and Intel core i7-2720QM CPU. It Has 8 DB DDR3 RAM on single slot but it is not enough for me and want to upgrade the RAM. So I checked the Chipset and CPU for RAM Upgrade and talk to Intel support center about maximum RAM upgrade. They told me this chipset support maximum 8GB of RAM. And when I talk to dell support center they told this board has 16GB maximum RAM compatibility. I am confused in between Intel and Dell. My retailer has also told me that my laptop can be upgraded upto 16GB RAM .

So, anyone tell me how much maximum RAM is compatible in Dell XPS 17 L702X with Intel core i7- 2720QM CPU ?

I too have a Dell XPS 17 series laptop with Intel core i7 CPU. I tried to find out the same RAM compatibility on dell website but haven't provide any detail about it in their specification list. hence i tried to find it out myself. It has 2 DIMM slots where single slot (#1) already has 8GB DDR3 RAM Stick. So, I guess second slot will also support an additional 8GB DDR3 RAM stick.

As my assumption it has maximum 16GB RAM support in this laptop. I also searched on Google about this problem but in some website it shows 16GB RAM support and in some website it shows 32GB RAM support. Finally I hope that it has 16GB RAM support.

I also have Dell XPS 17 L702X non 3D model laptop. I also upgraded my system memory with an additional 8 GB Stick. Now my system is running more smooth than before with 16GB RAM support. Actually this laptop has 16 GB maximum RAM support with 2 DIMM slots.

I think Intel told you that you Maximum 8 GB RAM support in single DIMM slot. Because when I want to upgrade the system memory at that time I also talk to Intel support and they clearly told me it has 16GB RAM support with 2 DIMM slot in non 3D model where each DIMM slot has maximum 8GB RAM support.

Thank you all guys, finally I got it. Dell XPS 17 Non 3D Model has 2 DIMM slot with 16 GB Maximum RAM support and Dell XPS 17 3D model has 4 DIMM slot with 32 GB RAM support.

Intel core i7-2720QM CPU has 8GB maximum RAM support at Single DIMM channel that’s why 2DIMM slot motherboard has 16GB and 4DIMM slot has 32GB Maximum RAM support. Am i correct ?
