Does Intel DX79SI and Intel DX79TO board support VT-D

As we know that now a days the virtual machines are taking advantage of the VT-D technology and if we compare the VT-D technology with the VT-X then the gains are more with VT-D technology but then the gain is mostly with the graphics processing units and sound cards in a number of cases, so here I just wanted to ask that, Does Intel DX79SI and Intel DX79TO board support VT-D, I have been checking out for the same but then I have got varying answers so Is there anyone who is quite sure about what I am asking and can clear my doubt?? Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

In that case I will like to inform you that VT-d is processor and it is depends on the operating system, as far as I am aware the current 2011 socket processors (i7-3930K, i7-3960X) does not support VT-d but then they just support VT-x, I don’t think that we will be able to see VT-d support if intel continues to follows their normal offerings under the Extreme series but then there are chances that they can come up with a locked 39xx for the socket 2011 which will supports VT-d. I don’t think that they will be coming up with the same soon as well but then we can just expect, time will tell if it will or will not.

Re: Does Intel DX79SI and Intel DX79TO board support VT-D

I have checked out for the current 2011 socket processors and I have found them to be supporting the below technologies:
    • Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT)
    • Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (Intel VT-d)
    • Intel Virtualization Technology Intel Core i7 processor family for the LGA-2011Socket Extensions
    • Intel 64 Architecture
    • Intel Streaming SIMD Extensions 4.1 (Intel SSE4.1)
    • Intel Streaming SIMD Extensions 4.2 (Intel SSE4.2)
    • Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX)
    • Intel Hyper-Threading Technology
    • Execute Disable Bit
    • Intel Turbo Boost Technology
    • Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology

I also wanted share that the previous processors were having errata affecting VT-d which might have been fixed with the newer processors and/or stepping, as far as the socket 1155 processors are concerned Intel is having Q67 boards with VT-d support but then I don’t think that they are having support for it on x79 boards, so here I just wanted to know that if this is the case or does these boards actually support VT-d or not.
