Seems to me that the problem is with the other Ram slots itself, since seating ram in other ram slots, the motherboard boots up fine. Is this a new board that you have bought or have you previously tested ram swaps to other slots and checked if it was working fine before? I have also seen that the GA-870A-UD3 becomes unstable with all four RAM slots in use.

The motherboard i have is about a year old all ram slots were working at one point i did encounter this in another Gigabyte motherboard that i have in a previous computer but it did end up correcting its self. I should of learnt my lesson with the last gigabyte motherboard

i don't mind running off 2 ram slots but my cooler master v6 is so big i need the first ram slot cause its so big

    Thanks

Well, in that case your only option is to RMA the Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 motherboard. It is something that cant be fixed by you or even us. Some users who were facing similar kind of problem used toothbrush to clean dust from their faulty ram slots and guess what, it even worked out for them, so take your chances and see if it works or not.

Im heading towards this Fatal1ty 990FX Professional motherboard even tho my ram is not on the confirmed compatible list
but it has many unique and advanced features that appeal to gamers and over clockers

Well, the Asrock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional will cost £152 where else the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 will cost £196 approx. So no doubt the Fatal1ty 990FX provides more value for money in this comparison altough it lacks some overclocking features and does not supports 3 way graphics configurations. Though the 3.0 usb support and ethernet surely makes Fatal1ty 990FX Professional a top pick.
