Asus P7P55D-E + Intel Core-i5 750 is using 8 GB RAM instead of 16 GB

I have an Asus P7P55D-E motherboard Intel Core-i5 750 processor on it. I recently added a 16 GB RAM to my system. It is the only RAM in my PC. Now when I switch on the computer, it shows me that only 8 GB of the RAM is usable. Where is the other 8 GB gone? Why is it happening, can someone help me?

Once in a while the RAM can have a bent pin. Even a slight bent which is unnoticeable can cause this problem. Another problem can be that with HSF. You can try using default HSF. You can solve the problem by remounting Noctua. While remounting Noctua, see to it that you are using ample amount of thermal compound. DRAM 1.65v + IMC 1.30v is the 'typical' voltages. You can also test the DIMM slots for errors. If the DIMM slots show no error, then you can try Lazyman’s breadboard method to find the error. Disconnect ALL Front Panel & USB Headers and keep only the power button. Disconnect all the peripherals except mouse and keyboard. Keep the MOBO away from any conducting material.

You can try running the CPU on high voltage and also on low voltage to see if the RAM is being accepted. But at this rate, the instability might be an issue. Never try to provide range. The behavior of CPU and the MOBO is very different from each other, so this might cause the problem of dependability among them. You will see unstable latencies, but let them remain as they are. Tampering them might crash your system.

The CPU that you are using is a 2.8 GHz; it needs a D.O.C.P. for O.P. I suggest you that reboot your system and then check the hardware reserved. Then again check the BIOS settings. An alternate method to this is to check XMP.

Have you checked the placement of RAM in your motherboards DIMM slots. I recommend that you do a XMP test. To do it, first load defaults of your system. In that, you will find an AI Overclock Tuner where you will find XMP settings. Set the Extreme Memory Profile to performance. Save and exit, restart the system. If this doesn’t work, then detach the RAM, 8pin-cpu power cord & front cooler. Now again attach then in different order than they were attached previously. This sometimes helps.
