Lenovo C20X upgrade to Intel Xeon X5679

I am using the Lenovo C20X and now I am thinking to upgrade the processor of this. This looks similar as D20 motherboard. I was just searching for this and found this CPU (Intel Xeon X5679) and this looks quite attractive. This is cheap in price and can be placed between x5670 and x5680 if we consider the performance. But I found that it is having limited cupid and capability info. This is the reason that I am posting this mover here. If you can provide me some information about this then I will be thankful for the replies.

I would like to tell you that this is similar to the X5679 is similar to the X5675 but having a 1066MHz memory bus and not the 1033Mhz. If we talk about Intel Xeon X5675 then this is having 2/2/2/2/3/3 turbo boost multipliers and this helps to put that at 3.33GHz with the full load under 1- or 2-core load. In case of the Intel Xeon X5679, it is having 1/1/1/1/2/2 turbo multipliers which place that with the same 3.33/3.46GHz frequencies. If we compare these two CPU’s then they are almost the same other than the TDP.

See if you are able to get the X5679 in retail with a good price and if you can get this then this is really going to be a decent processor for you. I am using the X5675 on my Lenovo C20 and I am really very happy with that.

I would like to tell you that every four- and six-core130W TDP CPUs are either having 1/1/2/2 or 1/1/1/1/2/2 turbo bins. And this is really the problem of the elevated TDP and that is the reason that they are not able to turbo much.

I have done some more research on this and then I found that there are many of the users on other sites as well who has commented the same thing about the turbo mode as described above but the tdp is 115w and the maximum speed for RAM is 1066 mhz instead of 1333mhz. Therefore there would be memory speed hit with using this.
