Intel i7-3820 vs i7-2700K/2600k performance

I want to build new system for me, so just wanted to know if the new Intel 3820 processor will outcast 2600 or 2700k processor or is it just my thinking? Should i go for the Ivy Bridge platform ? The 3960 and 3930 processors and motherboards are much more expensive than others. So can you people help me my giving me proper suggestions on this matter?

I have 2700k and it is really good. Though it is cheaper it can compete with other processors at same level by having some changes on it. I have overclocked it slightly with some air cooling. It has not given any problems yet and working really good. If was to choose i would have like to use Ivy-Bridge. since it is not available i would go with 3820, as it has interesting specification.

It seems that 3820 is partially locked and lack overclocking ability. It also consumes more power supply. This CPU has really less market potential than vanilla sandy bridge and Ivy Bridge. 3820 will also need more bandwidth , RAM capacity and PCIe capacity. This is available on the SB-e and the X79, but you won’t require the 6 cores for that which is present in 3930 or 3960x.

Having x58 or newer chipset doesn’t make it big upgrade, unless you need extra PCIe lane or more amount of RAM. I have AMD 3 system running Phenom 2 1055T, i added x79 and it made big difference to my system performance. Now i have 3830k but would have like to go with 3820 had it released before i bought my processor. It would have saved my money which i could have used to have SSDs for my system.
