What is the maximum memory size for the Intel i7-3930k ?

Hello, i am looking to build the machine that can run all the video editing software like Adobe After Effects, Premeire . I am planning to buy i7-3930k processor DX79SI motherboard. While processor specification says that it supports is 320GB , my motherboard supports 64 GB of RAM. Will buying this motherboard waste my money as processor won’t support 64 GB of RAM? After reading more about the motherboards that are made for intel i7, it looks like they can support more RAM than the processor that is actually allowing. Does intel have any other motherboard that can fit dual intel i7 processors as they are restricted to use maximum memory up to 32 GB only?

The intel i7 will only support 32 GB of RAM only. If you want to use more than 32 GB then you should go for installing second processor on your motherboard. You should also use separate memory banks or else your system will see only 32 GB of RAM instead of 64 GB. Intel doesn’t have any motherboards that can carry two intel i7 processors. You should search for any third party manufacturing company that may have this option to install two processors.

I have DX79SI motherboard with Intel i7 processor. I have got G.SKill F3-12800CL10Q-64GBZ RAM and it works very good. I have CPU core voltage 1.377. i am also using it for video editing only. I am also using Intel RT3WB080 x8 raid card, 1 TB Samsung HD103SJ attached with RAID5 array. I am running other programs like kaspersky and AIDA64.
