The new desktop processors will be compatible with the current LGA 1155, even with the platform chipset series 6 (after updating BIOS and drivers). Nevertheless, Intel also will unveil the new 7-series chipset family with integrated USB 3.0 support. the Ivy Bridge architecture will also give life to some product of the Pentium family, while the Celeron series is a simple renewal based Sandy Bridge design.

Ivy Bridge: Intel's new chip generation coming in 2012. The production of chips with the name "Ivy Bridge" is probably in full swing in 2012, the first to be available. In this case, Intel has shaped the new design of transistors, so the circuits on the chip, like Intel manager told in San Francisco. The 3D transistors, called Tri-gate transport digital signals not only horizontally but also vertically. The performance gain and the energy savings of tri-gate transistors rich beyond the level of previous chip generation.

The high-performance processors Sandy Bridge E-series, named Intel Core i7-3960X, Core i7 and Core i7-3930K-3820 are just a few days old and already rumors appear on the next generation: Ivy Bridge E to the Sandy Bridge E-replace CPUs in about a year. Not need to replace the current owners high-end platform, however the motherboard, gives a faith on leaked Intel presentation slide.

There is "Socket-life", the "socket-compatibility of two generations" as well as compatibility with the X79 chipset, the speech of both CPUs. Under the slogan of the Sandy Bridge-E generation in 32-nanometer production and the Ivy Bridge E-series in the 22-nanometer manufacturing process is performed. This would mean that Ivy Bridge E-processors could be used to currently available motherboards with the base 2011.

The continuous modifications on Intel chipset socket and forcing the user to modify their computer totally if you wish to upgrade the processor to a new generation. the upcoming Ivy Bridge, which is expected to launch in January, will as well share the LGA1155 socket with Sandy Bridge. It looks like Intel has reconsidered and will present a few longevity products, at least a pair of years to be updated by newer processor platforms.

The new graphics cores with Ivy Bridge architecture will be more than twice as fast. Pentiums and Celerons are there, but still hardly benefit from the new technology.

Ivy Bridge generation is to integrate the front-end hardware regulators, both the stage added more shader domain. Its also supported Compute Shader, "depending on the operator content, which plays up to 20 times performance improvement compared to the calculation of Sandy Bridge generation"

Intel Ivy Bridge will offer up to 25% more performance than Sandy Bridge with productivity suites. This was revealed by some of Intel documents, published by Xbit-Labs , which show the company's projections on future series Core ix 3000. The high expectations of the house of Santa Clara, however, affect the GPU, increased performance up to 199% in 3DMark Vantage.
