    Maximum temperature of AMD Processors

    I have been using the AMD processors from the past few years. So I know well about their temperatures. I would like to tell some of the processor’s maximum temps here. Make sure that these are only core temps:
    • Athlon II x2's, x3’s, x4’s -> 74~75'C, 73'C, 71'C respectively.
    • Phenom II x2 5XX Series, x3 7XX Series, x4 8XX Series -> -> 70'C, 73'C, 71'C respectively.
    • Phenom II x4 9 Series 95W -> 71'C
    • Phenom II x4 9 Series 125/140W -> 62'C
    • FX8120/FX8150 (BULLDOZERS) -> 61'C
    • FX6100/FX4100 -> 70'C

    Re: Maximum temperature of AMD Processors

    The value of the maximum operating temperature is measured directly in the center of the chip on top. The temperature reported by the BIOS of a system may differ from the actual temperature of the processor if the measure is taken to another location. In addition, the reported temperature is affected by the accuracy of the temperature sensor, the tool used and the analog / digital signal. It is recommended to allow some room in the comparison of the maximum operating temperature and the temperature reported by the BIOS.

    Now 65 C is hot though. In so-called "idle" state which CPU should not exceed 60 C, and a heavy load is 70 C but the maximum CPU if you want some more years.

    As a precaution, 70 degrees is the temp. ESTIMATED at which the micro is burned. 70 degrees is the official limit, about a percentage subtracted to ensure that all buses comply. We add the distance you want between warn limit and your micro is still burning and it will surely add another percentage "in case". My recommendation is that you take notice of 60 degrees. If you get the alarm then go looking for options to keep the temperature down.

    There are several free programs for reading the CPU temperature; you will also show what is normal and abnormal.

    Re: Maximum temperature of AMD Processors

    There is a well-defined temperature, which can withstand a CPU, ambient temperature and temperature of the electronics in the transistors themselves. I mean, at about 80 C they break.

    You can view the operating temp. Cooling of the CPU a bit, if you let one additional fan in front. The temperature can be controlled quite easily by one can control the fan with programs. Many programs read from the CPU temperature and control the speed of the CPU fan accordingly.

    Increase the voltage of an CPU is not without risks
    • + 0 - 10%: no direct impact on the life of CPU (1.48V to about 1.35V core)
    • + 10 to 17% is the maximum that should be given to a CPU that runs 24/24 h (approximately 1.57V to 1.35V core)
    • + 17 - 25%: may be suitable for normal use but it will closely monitor the operating temperature and have a power and a solid motherboard. (1.68V to about 1.35V core)
    • + 25%: nothing better to break records in 3DMark winter at the edge of the window. But beware, this increase will limit the life of your processor if it is constantly fed this way.
    • + 30%: risk of having to say goodbye to transistors, and immediate destruction of the instantaneous CPU ... and with any luck, the motherboard

    Re: Maximum temperature of AMD Processors

    The temperature depends on several factors:
    • CPU Cooler
    • Thermal Compound
    • Housing and refrigeration
    • Temperature of the environment

    The specification of AMD is more of a guideline. Temps under load are all fine as long as the PC does not shut it. Goes from the PC because the CPU is too hot, then you know you have to change something.

    Re: Maximum temperature of AMD Processors

    The temperature of all the CPUs is measured on a principle under the CPU on the motherboard installed diode. Depending on whether this signals that the processor does not affect or below, 20-25 ° C must be added to the measured values in the BIOS.
