    Need similar logic Board for ST3500320AS / Seagate Barracuda 7200.11/Firmware SD35

    Hey guys I am looking for a similar logic Board for ST3500320SA / Seagate Barracuda 7200.11/Firmware SD35 and I have been trying to find out me having the right firmware but then I have not yet came across one. Actually I have brunt my logic board, I need it for the following specifications, is there anyone who can help me out?? Any help regarding the same will be appreciated:
    • Seagate Barracuda 7200.11
    • 500 GB
    • S/N: 5QM138MH
    • ST3500320AS
    • P/N: 9BX154-568
    • Firmware: SD35

    Even I am having the same kind of situation actually I have over volt my drive with 16v mistakenly, the other specification are as followed;:
    • Seagate ST3500320AS Barracuda 7200.11
    • 500GB SATA
    • Model: ST3500320AS
    • P/N: 9BX154-568
    • Firmware: SD81

    I will like to inform you that even if you are able to get a similar board for the specification that you both have mentioned above then you will have to transplant the 8-pin serial EEPROM chip from patient to donor and you have to do that because it actually stores calibration data which is said to be determined at the factory and if you have burnt or over volt the drive then you will have to go through some articles and some videos if you are planning to transplant the 8-pin serial EEPROM chip from patient to donor by yourself because it is a tough task as well.

    * Seagate ST3500320AS Barracuda 7200.11
    * 500GB SATA
    * Model: ST3500320AS
    * P/N: 9BX154-568
    * Firmware: SD81
    I think that you can order a new pcb having the following specification but the you will have to check out that you are having a similar firmware as well:
    • Main Controller IC: ST V523C or LSI TT85501C
    • HDD Motor Combo IC: 100369972
    • Cache Memory: 16MB
    • Firmware: SD15

    I have checked for the same and I have found that the firmware is different so I doubt that it will work in my case. I have few questions regarding it as well, I mean if I get the same then is there possibilities of damaging the HHD? Because I really don’t want to take a risk of losing the data. If I try to use the seagate's Firmware Update Utility then will it work for me?? The last thing I wanted to know is there requirement of any special equipment in order to do the task of “transplanting the 8-pin serial EEPROM chip from patient to donor" any further help for the same will be appreciated.

    You will need to refer to the article for doing the job of “transplanting the 8-pin serial EEPROM chip from patient to donor" and for that if you are having a multimeter then you can just measure the resistance of the 12V TVS diode and that will be near the power connector, so if you are getting zero ohms then you can just use a slide cutter or something sharp like that to take it off. As far as I am aware the hard drive will work fine without the diode as well if you are having a trusted power supply but then if you don’t want to take that risk then you can just replace it with SMBJ12A (12V).You will also need a Torx screwdriver in order to remove the board.

    What did you meant by the trusted power supply?? I mean that is there a risk if I take out the diode and then plug it to a tower which is of 12V? I just wanted to know if I have to change the voltage or something to be at the safer side as I am having my computer plugged on a UPS or you just wanted to say that I will have to supply power to HDD from some other external 12V adaptor, other than that are you having an idea about the voltage tolerance of the PCB, I mean that it must be 12v or we can change the values as well?? Any further help will be highly appreciated.

    I think that if your computer is connected to the UPS then it will be quite safe and I was saying that because I have found people who have tried to plug the 19V laptop adapters into an external HD enclosure and then they have resulted in to a failure, I don’t have much idea about the voltage margins and all but then I think that staying on the 12v will be the safest or if at all if you go ahead then don’t go above 14v.

    Hey I am really thankful to you for your solution, I have now successfully removed the burnt diode and I think that you trick really helped me at that time and now the drive has turned without any further issues and I have retrieved the all my files and took a back up of them as well. Anyways thanks to other as well for their help, I really appreciate them.
