PCI-E 2.1 compatible GPUs supported in Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4

I have heard that there is a compatibility problem among the PCI-E 2.1 cards on PCI-E 1.0 slots but it all depends on the BIOS right? I would like to know whether my motherboard can hold the ATI 5xxx- or 6xxx-series? if it can't then what version of BIOS i should add now. I am planning to get HD5770 or maybe a 6850.

Your motherboard is quite old, but its PCI-Express x16 graphics card must support current hardware incompatibility but difficult to predict. The main problem in your config is your processor, which limits any current graphics card powerful. The GTS 250 is possible, but will be limited if you play on a 19 "screen with 1280 x 1024 pixels. I advise you rather a GT 240 or HD 5670.

I change in my BIOS (AMI 07/15/04) neither save nor what. And because of OpenGL, I get into the program (EVEREST Home Edition) displayed that my GeForceFX 5200 with 128 MB OpenGL supported, but I can not find any settings in Control Panel> Display> Settings> Advanced to. Have also been a driver update with the video driver (ForceWare 81.85 International) conducted and failed.

It should be noted, however, that Phenom processors but can run on AM2 motherboards, but certain functions may not be used. These include one of the Hypertransport 3.0 and the ability to overclock individual cores differently (ie, the improved power-saving feature Cool'n'Quiet 2.0). These features are available exclusively on AM2 + motherboards available.
