    Dell hybrid ram update

I added 2 GB of RAM to my Hybrid; it previously had 1 GB. The difficulty is, it simply recognizes the new 2 GB and no longer is 1 GB. So, in its place of having a total of 3 GB it shown me only 2 GB after the hybrid ram and another Ram connected does it support both ram. Any idea what the problem might be faced?

I require the piece number or the spectacles for the original memory module. Each memory slot in your Hybrid is able to hold DDR2 PC2-5300 or DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 2GB per slot. However, you'll get the most excellent performance from a corresponding pair.

Seems like the additional 2 GB pc2-6400 module is supposed to work but obviously a little is wrong. Could be a bad memory slot or presently a problem with the two modules not receiving along. You know your original 1 GB module works on your own in the system when installed alone in its original socket.

Visit support. Dell, click on 'download and drives', enter in your service tag number or select your system from the drill down menu, select your operating system, and then look under the 'bios' section for instructions and to download the file. Did you confirm that both slots are good as suggested or are you just hoping this can be solved with the bios?

You may be thinking a bios upgrade to the latest 1.0.10. the release notes in a few of the bios update version do not show and fixes for memory issues but it would be the first time that troubles were address but not recognized.

Why not try it alone in the system in the alternate socket to confirm that other socket is good. Then do the same with the new memory alone in the system in each of the two sockets. And if the sockets make sure check out as both ok then obviously it is a compatibility issue
