Is LGA2011 Core i7-3960X worth buying?

I recently heard a report on AMD will launch its line of BD soon (well, hopefully) and Intel seems to bake these babies for 4Q11 / 1Q12. In addition, AMD (according to some rumors) are preparing high-performance versions of BD to launch 1Q12. Will it be worth?

Early rumors had the bclock 2011 is still open, like 1366, but recent rumors I've heard that, indeed, is blocked (because of the way does not tolerate changes Bclock SB). So I guess time will tell. Either way if I cannot take a cheap blocked 6 the maximum core and OC (much like 1366 and making my current 930), then I'll wait and see what happens IB him for overclocking options. I hope you do not end without overclocking Bclock around in the future only as a multiplier overclocking is very boring and does not allow the same amount of control over the system.

They probably use the masks as well as its new server processors. So the answer to your question is: There was no reason not to. Moreover, from 2600K to 990x singlethreaded lost for most of the loads on the best desktop processor from Intel to buy was ~ $ 300. It's a good idea to do a higher end processor SB only to people who are price sensitive will give them more money.

I had one of those original unlocked several quads and extreme max OC I could get was totally dependent on the quality of the motherboard I put in. The question is not really different from asking what the point of having the different manufacturers PSU DDR3 different producers dim, or AIB different to produce the same product class differentiators GPU will still be present, as each company makes different choices in terms of cost savings and function points.

I have one of the cheapest tables for my settings X58 i7 (EX58-UD3R Rev 1.0 and Rev 1.6). They have been working fine 24 / 7 and keep 920 D0 @ 4 GHz on air. Same with my settings C2D (in 965P-DS3 E6600@3.6GHz Rev 1.0 s) and, recently, the same with all my IIs Phenom (X3 730BE @ 4-core 3.8 GHz in the air over Biostar TA870 + and + TA880GB together). Now please understand I'm not saying that the most expensive plates are stupid. Will always be people like things Aigo hardcore push. Personally for me, I'm happy to say that 85% of its proceedings to say that 50% of the price.

For me overclocking than the obvious reasons to be fun and a hobby is to get free performance, but having to work for it and select the components of good / cool to make it happen. That's why we usually get the best chip in the socket top end and see how close to the chip at the top of the socket so I can get. I sincerely believe that Intel is going the wrong way by blocking Bclock overclocking, at least for me it will have all the fun of an overhaul of the system.

On a more positive note, there would be a natural limit to what they can charge (not saying it will be well within the margins of our consolation, only that there will be a limit), so that's not exactly grow with each release . Intel is competing with them, and with each generation has to convince a significant portion of its market as a whole is worth the upgrade - either for higher performance, lower power consumption, cooler temps, or any combination them.
