how to add more memory to Dell Precision 490

Hello, I have the newly dell precision 490 workstation at my home. I want to upgrade my machine memory. My workstation machine contains 8 memory slots. My computer has already 2x1GB memory installed in it. Any different in term of performance, there are two options:-
    1. Pay money for 4X2GB (cheaper)
    2. Pay money for 2X4GB to add the existing two.
So, is there any problem? If I add different memory sticks together?

It is difficult to say anything because; I don’t know anything about your system. Go to any site, which provide technical support, and run the system scan. It will help you to understand actually what your workstation supports, and what to install. I will suggest to not adding 4GB memory, because it is expensive. Why you want to update your configuration? Why you need more memory? What apps you are using?

You are using 2GB of the RAM at your home, there is no need to increase the working capacity of your computer, but if you are using any apps that requires more RAM than you can upgrade your RAM. If u wants u can increase your ram, but up to some limit. It is also important that your operating system supports that power of RAM. If your OS does not supports that power of ram than it will of no use, than it will be waste of money.

It will not create any problem, if you are using different memory sticks. it will help your system to run with the processors speed. Ram gives power to the system to run with the same speed of processor, so if you are increasing the RAM, then it will not harm your computer, but it will help your computer to run fast with the processors speed. Your computer will perform fast ,it will do the very complicated things very easily.
