question i7860S + ASUS P7P55D-E-PRO = WINXP ?

Good Day,

I intend to build a computer which should be good for gaming. The primary concern is WINXP (SP2), I know the first thought coming to minds is why not Win7; but I prefer XP for its simplicity and compatibility. The questions to the experts out there are:

1. Does above combination (i7 860S + ASUS P7P55D-E-PRO) support WinXP (SP2 or SP3) without any glitch?
2. Any motherboard better for this combination (please check below the reasons for opting P7P55D-E-PRO)?

Here is the complete config with the reason, any betterment will be highly appreciated. I am looking to settle the deal with in 40K (without monitor) and anything less would be more than great.

Thanks a lot to all who spend their time giving valuable suggestions.

Cabinet - Cooler Master Elite 335 (good airflow, design)

SMPS - Yet to decide (should require number of outputs)

CPU - Intel i7 860S (8 MB Cache, Support for HT)

Motherboard - ASUS P7P55D-E-PRO (Reliability, backward compatibility with PS/2, IDE ports, USB 3.0)

RAM - 3 GB DDR3

Graphics - AMD RADEON HD 6850 (Good gaming support)

HDD - Seagate 1 TB

Optical Drive - 52x DVD-RW LG

Does your motherboard also supports usb 2.0 connectivity, as it will be very much helpful. Rest of the hardware components that you have listed is very good. Also i would suggest you to get a decent cooler for your rig, something like the Corsair A70 will do the needful. As for operating system, I would suggest you to dual boot Window XP with Windows 7, as there are good games that can be played on Windows 7 only with DirectX 11 support.

Thank you for taking time and providing useful information on the cooling unit and suggestion of dual booting. It's certainly help me.

The motherboard has 12 X USB 2.0 ports and 4 X USB 3.0 ports.

Regards.
