MSI 890FXA-GD70 motherboard not booting with 8GB DDR3 memory

I got a latest motherboard from MSI through an RMA and seeing as have not been capable to obtain it to boot up on a usual beginning. More than a few times while booting the diagnostic LED will show an impolite 'FF' code and consistent with the BIOS info, is in orientation to the initialization of the processor. The CPU (AMD 1100T) works just very well as examined in additional systems. I am currently using Corsair Vengeance - 8GB (2x 4GB), PC3-12800, DDR3-1600MHz,, Intel XMP Ready, Unbuffered RAM with my MSI 890FXA-GD70. I think that the problem is about the memory but I am not sure. The memory is operating at the defaulting settings for BIOS and for others. I have just observed that it is not dual channel competent.

Please elucidate what you explain as defaulting. Does it run by the side of 1333 otherwise 1600 ? I would suggest that you situate this memory physically inside the BIOS toward 1333 9.9.9.24 2T to check initial. For AMD computers, average 1066 otherwise 1333 modules are all that’s wanted. Thus, a Crucial kit will be sufficient. Standard black chips on top of a green board through JEDEC standard 1333 9.9.9.24 specs at 1,5V. That is certainly if you cannot obtain this Corsair memory to work.

I think that for your motherboard now the Kingston HyperX 2133MHz T1 8GB kit under the microscope. This bright blue quad channel kit is called complete Kingston KHX2133C9AD3T1FK4/8GX and is designed for the new Intel Sandy Bridge architecture. The kit consists of 4 modules of 2GB each, so 8GB total. After starting the system recognized our Sandy Bridge P67GD65 B3 MSI motherboard once an XMP profile, and thus sets the speed and timings right at the promised levels, namely 9-11-9-27 timings @ 2133 MHz.

As a result it appears you have the equivalent memory kit like I do and you enclose it up and running (by the use of the two blue memory slots 1/2) by the side of default settings....attractive. I am first to believe this memory kit is certainly operational satisfactory (I at present have no additional AM3 board that utilizes DDR3 no test on the other hand) and this perhaps might be a motherboard/BIOS problem over again.

To be capable to utilize 4gb+ memory, you have to run a 64bit operating system. However whilst the 64bit OS will be capable to spot and utilize in excess of 4gb of memory, whichever 32bit programs will at rest have the similar physical address restrictions, with the purpose of completely utilize in excess of 4gb of memory, you'll as well require to utilize dedicated 64bit software as well. Therefore over again, it is as well pretty useless to contain 4 GB or further, in a 64bit Operating system, if you're merely yet going to run 32bit program.

Re: MSI 890FXA-GD70 motherboard not booting with 8GB DDR3 memory

Have you tried by putting only one stick at a time on motherboard and booting? It seems to me that the motherboard is having some problem with 2 separate memory sticks that is placed on two different slots. If one of two is defected then the motherboard won’t boot at all. So it would be better if you try those memory stick either in different computer or in same but placing only one at a time. However it is not the case then you should come out from default settings of BIOS and modify it according to its needs.

Overclocking the memory voltages is the best option for you to work with your 8GB RAM sticks. Some time it becomes necessary for you to modify some settings if you encounter issues. BIOS update will often resolve this issue but that is not always recommended. Sometime you may get more issue by doing this. However as I think that the only option left for you to reset the BIOS anyhow either by the use of CMOS or by switching jumpers.
