I need to use I5-2500 turbo boost on H67 MOBO

Hi, i have just bought a new CPU and I don’t have any experience with I series CPU and turbo boost. It is that when ever my PC is on idle I get the 1600MHZ, which is fine, and also helps to save power, but when I play the games with a heavy load, or any benchmark, it goes to the 3400MHZ. I never saw up to 3.7GHz and to 3.3GHz. It should remain normally be at a 3.3GHz and at 3.7 GHz with turbo boost. Whenever i diasabled to the tourbo boost in bois, i got the 3.3GHz max load. I use the ASUS P8P67 Pro. So can anyone explain me why there is only 100MHZ increses with turbo boost and Wyh i can't see the maximum 3.7GHz with turbo boost on? And also if game uses the one core at 100% and doesn't use any other core, all cores goes up to the 3.4GHz, is this a normal behavior?

You have to check your tourbo boost multiplier in the ASUS AI suite II software or in the BOIS. Can’t think of the anything else. I also had used P8P67 Pro and I got the same 1.6GHz on idle, but on full load and turbo work fine as applied as same as to my i7-2600. Asus P8P67 Pro (B3)/CM Gladiator 600/Intel Core i7-2600/CM Hyper 212+/MSI NGTX-560 Ti Twin Frozr II OC/Corsair 2x4GB 1333MHz/Corsair TX750W.

The solution is to for this is Asus AI Suite II, go to "Tool" tab and open Turbo Evo, then go into the more setting CPU Ratio. In bios, it should be there in CPU setting and look around to it it is very easy to spot. I kept EPU/TPU switches on and they were supposed to be CPU temperature/voltage control units or something. The “ON” position of both switches mean moving to the slider towards the bottom of the right corner to the motherboard, which is provided at the left side of the CPU site. The difference between in using the BIOS is that there are more setting and, as par my suggestion they have replied you right from the machine, while AI suite applied them only on OS boot. Turbo boost does work, but only up to the rated speeds only. I had also got the boosts till the 3.7GHz as per for my i5 CPU. After watching the graph. While initializing the Windows Update after a fresh install. The CPU managed to stay at the 1.6GHz about 95% of the time. After bursting up to for very short periods of time. Some intense of the computing would be may get differ from it. But most of the time CPU should be stay at very cool.

You should be limited to the CPU specifications when it has comes to the Turbo boost. You can also go through all 4 cores or 8 threads at 3.7 GHz, That's only for a actual core and it get decrease up to the cores and are used for the whatever application are used to it. It might be giving you up to 3.4 GHz on all 8 threads though. As per my 2600K stock 3.4 GHz will run at 3.495 when not over clocked. So, that’s what I said previously but it will not be exactly the same as per CPU over clocked to the 3.7 GHz. Hence only one core application will be benefit for that. i.e. 2 cores will get 3.6 GHz, 3 cores 3.5, and 3.4 for likely everything is included HT.

As per the situation Turbo Boost speeds gets up to the cores when it is needed. The number of cores uses will get determine that how it will be big a speed jump you will see to it. For instance, a single can core can get boosted up to the 400MHz i.e. 4”bins” of 100MHz to give single thread application. 3 cores would get up to a single 100MHz boost. I want think of it as over clocking to save the confusion to different terminology really. So, if you want to push your CPU past its rated settings then get the K series, otherwise you don't need it.
