want to upgrade cpu on intel socket 775

Could you please perhaps tell us the make or model no. of the motherboard with the intel socket 775? As far as I can say the motherboard with intel socket 775 is a very old and therefore the motherboard could be also pretty old. As you came here to find out about a socket 775 cpu I will tell you what you should be looking for. Check the below list and this might be supported in your mobo:

its a xfx 750i......i just wanted to get the BEST CHIP for this socket. 775 was launched a while back...but the i chips ARENT 2 yrs old.
2 nvidia cards 9500gt bridged
2 gigs ram
wolfdale e7500 with v8 coolmaster
haf 922 with 6 fans....

i can get ALMOST any chip at lower then cost this weekend...

oh yea....its over clocked from 2.93 to 3.5 got it used.....$250. figured id get it just for the case and v8 cooler plus id get to try win 7 ultimate.

There are not many processors supported by all motherboards but below are some list of few processors that can physically fit into the socket LGA775. So, if you are upgrading an old computer system then check that CPU is compatible with your motherboard.

was thinking the q9770...or less better one q9650, q9550. i know itll fall right in socket (most) but which would give me noticable,decent,difference.

old board but right cpu and it could keep up. gonna check mobo,,...capabilty now...

I think that Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650, 3.00 GHz is still very costly, which is @ Rs. 16,300.00, so buying such a processor wouldnt be a good idea. If you compare the i3 core or i5 core processor, they are still at lower side of the amount and performance of this processors are even better. But if you want to upgrade to the later processors then you will also have to upgrade your mobo.

exactly....i just wanna "UP" the cpu. it is costly...but what ive read its a bit better if not even with the i5

you think q9650 make difference...im oc'd at 3.51ghz from 2.93

if i go mb...i7 cpu at least is in need along with ram ect. can use my (old) v-cards maybe and v8 coolemaster....case is good.

Actually, the I5 750 is the only I3/I5 processor that would offer more performance, the dual core I3/I5 6XX series will be weaker than the q9650 and I only say this because you don't want to sacrifice performance and I don't blame you for that even the price compared. If you have the budget to upgrade only to the lg775 which is quite old compared then you are good to go ahead.

not budget but not getting new computer till "cliffs of dover" sim is a yr old. ill up grade this socket cause everything else on mb is worthy of it.

end of yr...ill go new mb...ect.

you think theres a decent upgrade from e7500 to q9750 on this mb...thats what im curious about. just getting it faster and smoother if i may.....
