For Dell Inspiron 1420 which CPU is better Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 or Intel Core 2 Duo T9500?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop with the Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.40GHz processor in it. I want to upgrade the CPU. I have shortlisted two CPU from which I need to select anyone. The shortlisted CPU’s are T9500 (2.60 GHz) CPU or the T9600 (2.80GHz) CPU. But the issue is I am not able to decide which one to select. I have the latest BIOS (A10) on my Inspiron 1420. Can anyone help me to overcome this issue? I don’t know which one is better. Please do the needful if you can.

I think you should go for T9500. According to me T9600 won’t work on Dell Inspiron 1420 chipset, as Dell only released the Inspiron 1420 with up to T9500 CPU. It never released the one with T9600. So upgrading your CPU to T9600 is of no use. T9600 won’t work on your laptop. I know it released after T9500 but it is useless for your laptop. So my suggestion for this issue is to upgrade your laptop with Intel core duo T9500.

Your issue seems to be quite interesting. I don’t have much information about these CPU. But still I will definitely try to help you as much as I can. Both T9500 and T9600 support CPU socket type PGA478. The main difference that I know about these CPU’s is with respect to FSB speed. The Intel core duo T9500 runs with a FSB speed of 800MHz while the Intel core duo T9600 runs with a FSB speed 1066MHz. Due to low FSB speed I would suggest to go for Intel core duo T9500.

I know most of the difference between T9500 and T9600. There is not much difference between them. Intel core duo T9500 and Intel core2 duo T9600 both have a same CPU speed of 6MB cache but T8300 has a 3MB cache. I have a laptop which was purchased in 2010. It has 4GB RAM, a Nvidia Geforce 8400M. I also up-graded the CPU but I selected Intel core2 duo T9500 and I found that it is working fine in my system. I am quite satisfied with my selection. It is up to you to decide which one you prefer the most.

As I am not sure which CPU will be better for Ubuntu operating system? But according to me Intel core 2 duo T9500 will be better for your laptop. The reason for this suggestion is the cost incurred and the FSB speed of T9500. Intel core 2 duo T9500 is provides better speed than T9600 and it is cheaper than T9600. So if you need the best CPU in low cost than you should go to for T9500. This was suggestions for you related to your issue.
