HD codecs in Intel DH57JG disappearing

    Hi,

I'm with a very strange problem here.
I have a HTPC with bitstreaming DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD...
My motherboard is Intel DH57JG connected by HDMI 1.4 in a Receiver Onkyo HT-S380 (Suports HD audio)
Software: Win7, MediaPortal 1.1.3, Codec SAF 5/6 (or KLite 7.1.0)
When I install a fresh windows with drivers, I have all formats enabled in HDMI properties (see image 1).
But during configuration, something (not yet identified) kills the HD audio formats (see image 2). Only DTS and Dolby remains...

I reinstalled drivers (originals and recents), codecs, firmware etc. Nothing solves. Only I get them again, if I format and reinstall windows, but the problem repeats with configuration. It's a circle of terror!
I also tried to create a mirror (using Norton Ghost) of a "enabled" situation, but when I restored it (look, from a 'good' situation), HD audio DON'T appears too. It's very strange!

I'm very tired about this... My brain is heating :-/

    Any idea, please?

    TIA
    Aurelio

Which codecs software are you using? What is the audio driver version you installed/tried with? What is the video driver version you installed/tried with? Is there any conflict (yellow exclamation mark) shown in Device Manager? If so, please, provide details on it. You'd stated there are "actually 2 different digital" options in the HD Audio Console; have you tried on each of these?

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

Currently, I'm using SAF - Stand Alone Filter- 5.1 (I tried 6 beta too) which is specific for Media Portal. Before, I used KLite Codec Pack 7.1.0.

    Drivers (originals):
Audio: Realtek 6106 (I also tried the recent 2.59)
Video: 15.17.2141 (I also tried the recent 15.22.1.2361)
Intel ME: 6.0.0.1129 (I also tried the recent 6.1.0.1042)
Firmware: 537 (I also tried the recent 625)

Device manager is fine, no yelloy exclamation.

The HD audio console show 3 *supported* formats (image 2) by HDMI: DTS, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus). It should be 5 (with DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD, image 1)

Check the BIOS option, any onboard audio has to be enabled in the bios first. I know , because I had to disable mine(blew up the chip input). After that, I could install a new pci card. I also heard that HDMI is not an available feature via the Realtek audio driver as it is controlled via the graphics driver.

In BIOS, the audio is enabled.
I can to hear DTS and DD audio.
My problem is with DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD.
    Something is 'killing' them

    UPDATE:

Today, I (again) formatted the HTPC.
I installed a fresh Win7 and most recent drivers (IME, audio, video, lan and chipset) and firmware (release 656) downloaded from Intel site
WITHOUT install any codec, I checked the HDMI property: Only DTS and DD. No HD formats...

I read somewhere that HDMI Output is not displayed/found among the options in the Realtek* HD Audio Manager which is not a driver limitation as in Windows. Therefore it is recommended to contact the vendor itself (Realtek), as Intel doesn't develop that controller. Hope that this makes sense. The Realtek audio does not manage the HDMI out, it actually runs through the graphics driver.

I was also facing similar kind of problem and after some searching I have found out the fix for this issue, for Intel mobos, it's necessary "Intel Manageability Engine" (IME) installed for HD Audio be enabled and the DH57JG enables comprehensive 10-channel sound (7.1-channel + two independent multi-streaming channels). I installed it and everything works fine now.
