Want to upgrade from Intel 2500 to Intel 2600 cpu

I'm planning ahead for a SB build in the next two months. I guess I'm looking at a P67 motherboard and I was watching the 2500 and 2600 CPUs. I will probably go with the 2500, it will be fast enough to what I'm doing, the economy makes sense, and I'm unlikely to be able to load the extra 4-wire most of the time. This brings me to the issue of 2500. I'm not a great overclocker. I value reliability over eeking out the last part of the speed. I know many people have rock solid OC settings but when I tried I meet a lot of side issues that I realized the motherboard are fads, but it still bothered me. I have experienced things like: hot restart does each power cycle or double instead of rebooting, after waking from sleep the CPU fan and chassis (connected to the motherboard) running on its slowest speed, regardless of the temperature readings, fans run at full speed, regardless of the readings, etc. what you guys think?

Hello I am having this same question. I observe that the 2500 supports a number of VT functionality that the K version not have. I'm not heavy on virtualization now, but I like to have the CPU fully functional with all available extensions at my disposal. If I have no intention to organized crime, 2500 seems to make sense. The problem is that all online retailers that I have found only seem to be in sales and packages with the K versions to meet "typical gamer" demand for these parts. What happens to the used market? Does anyone buy my 2500 when I upgrade if all the players want 2500ks? Or in fact mine is rare and I would get good money for it because a few fans VMWare is having trouble finding second-hand non-K CPU?

The P67 choice is not final, but there are additional boards to decide from. I guess that's the way, after the forthcoming enlargement of post-SB integrated video might actually be useful for a feather in the cap of H67. I've generally been very upset with "entry-level chipsets in the past. This possibly will not be the case through the H67. This seems like a possible advantage, not a disadvantage. Maybe I should be scrubbed and buy / sell forums for "almost nothing" no-K 2500 chips and put the money saved on the GPU or more mechanical keyboards.

There are a couple of dissimilarities among the IntelĀ® Core™ I5 2500 and 2500K. For you the dissimilarities that are significant are the HD 3000 graphics resting on the 2500K and the business appearance of VT-d and TXT that are employ within the Intel vPro based systems. While the significance of the Intel Core I5 2500K toward the people on top of this board have a huge deal additional value, to the majority of people exposed there will not recognize the dissimilarity among them so it won’t construct much of an impact at all inside cost. In the end it appears down to $30 and enhanced graphics.

I do not see a problem with the purchase of non-k versions. As the others said in this post you can still overclock non-k versions, you cannot overclock much. Also, I see many people talking about selling their stuff to upgrade your PC, which is fine, but many of us who do not. When my pc is not good enough to play either give it to my son or wife to use for Internet use, or my mother or other family member to the resale value means nothing to me. Finally, at the time of the CPU system k is very little power to play, more than likely that k will be obsolete versions and little power too.

If I promote to an 1155 CPU, I will be selling my i7 860. Who will I attempt to put up for sale it to? Somebody that recognize computers. For the reason that, yet though it's older, they observe what value it has and you're going to build extra money. Attempt to sell it to somebody that doesn't be acquainted with and they won't provide you shit for it. In fact, those kinds of people would immediately rather pay money for a computer at Wal-Mart and in excess of pay for last generation technology.

well, now I contain a chip within a Intel DP67DE at 4.4ghz, including 8GB ram, 2HDD(host boot disk is 1TB Caviar Black, Virtual Machine on 2TB Caviar Green). I contain a virtual machine (Ubuntu x64 host VirtualBox throughout W7 Pro x64 host with 2 CPUs and 4 GB RAM) I keep throughout the day for me ssh and make use of processing power. Running pressure tests resting on the machines, all core loses regarding 10-20% efficiency, which is still quick. I'd say if you want ultra stable, go for a 2500 + p67 (4 containers OC) or H67 (for stocks). No matter the resale value.
