Damage done by water to laptop is not something that's easy to hide and write off as a normal component failure. You will have trouble getting that laptop replaced with a nice company. Best thing what you can do is remove the battery, and any other removable parts (CD player on some machines, memory, hard disk), and let it dry out completely in a hot, dry place. When you're sure it has completely dried out, replace the components you removed (make sure these are dry as well, especially harddisks) and replace the battery.
