    MSI 870A-G54 & 1055T over heat

Guys I was using Asus P5Q from last 3 years, I didn’t had any problem while using that but last week I upgarded my system with following specifications MIS 870a-G54, 4GB(2x2GB) Kingstn, Hitachi 500GB Sata 3, Ati Radeon 4870, AMD phenom X6 1055T, and custom made water cooling. I did the assembling work but when I started the system for first 3-4 times it passed the BIOS and automatically shut down and again started the system this time the hardware which monitoring the CPU temperature showed processor was boiling and immediately I shut down the system till that time it was around 100 to 110 Celsius. I have assembled coller to CPU and applied the thermal adhesive tape. I don’t know what’s happening here please help me out.

This is the first time I have came across such kind of problem so much over heating, I have never heard over heating till that extent. I had over heating problem in my system but only some extra fans were quite enough to get rid up of this problem. But in your case I don’t know that will be the solution, you are circling the water too but still it’s so high I think even if you don’t do that, it shouldn’t not to that level. I think it is due to bad CPU or bad sensors. I suggest you to take help of some expert hardware guy. All the best.

In your case since system automatically shut down it doesn’t restart, So your processor maybe overheating. What I think is you have not assembled the processor with motherboard properly, so first disassemble them and other hardware connections. Then again assemble all the things and while assembling these things remove old grease and apply only very little amount of it. And I have never heard about the adhesive tape. Try out these things.

Dude I had heat issue in my CPU too, but not to that level. I think it’s due to the bad CPU.I personally think you should contact the hardware specialist because overheating my cause you some serious hardware damage problem. You can check it by yourself only one thing is that it can be due to the no contact between the cooler and the processor if there is no contact then cooler won’t be able to cool down the processor because without contact heat will not transfer easily.

Hey mate I have just gone through your thread and read about Adhesive tapes but those tapes are used only with aftermarket VGA RAM heat sinks, In my point of view thermal pads and thermal tapes are non-practical ideas in this case, don’t ever try those things. Just try the steps given by above user I think those things will work for you or at least it will decrease the temperature to some extent. All the best mate, this was quite shocking thread about over heating to that level.

Guys you won’t believe it it worked for me, my system is working properly now. To be very frank I never thought that anybody could provide me the solution I was just trying my luck may someone had been through such kind of problem. Well I followed the given steps assembled motherboard and processor again by applying some thermal paste and I have applied thermal tape too LOL. And installed the Windows 7 and now it’s working properly. Thank you guys, this wouldn’t be possible without your help. Thank a lot.
