Memory over clock bug occurs in MSI K9A2 Platinum V2

I have a MSI K9A2 Platinum v2 with an AMD Sempron 3400+ in it. It has Corsair XMS2 CM2X1024-6400 2x1GB with Q-Tec 400W.Now when I over clock the FSB and run the HT up to 900MHz the memory run up to 405 MHz only and it is not synchronized with the FSB. The Bios display shows DDR 2 frequency is 900 MHz but the latest versions like AMD Overdrive and few others like Windows utilities displayed 810 only. So a memory over clock bug occurs. So is it a problem of motherboard or is it due to any other reason. Please help me out in this.

I had a look at your problem and I feel that you don’t have a major problem. There is nothing in it. The HT Link has no connection with memory frequency. According to me with the AMD Sempron 3400+ and with the 225 CPU HTT x 9 MP (2025Mhz) having around 400 memory index it produce 405Mhz Memory frequency .So it you have a close look at it then effectively it is around 810MHZ.So for me there is not much of an issue with you and I don’t think there is a major problem with your mother board.

I think that you need to change the PSU Q-Tec 400W.The Q-Tec 400W is not that great. The problem with them is that they can't offer the power what the modern systems need. Also their 550W version is not that good as the simple 300-350W.So there is a big issue with them. For me you should go with some better power sullies like the Enermax or Antec TruePower. They are very good power supplies and will provide you with better results. There are also a few more present but these are best.

Even I agree that there must be some problem with the Q-Tec 400W.According to me they sell it like a cheap Enermax but they are not even close to it. They don’t even come close to that one and do fail in most systems. But if you use an Enermax 353W or even an Antec TruePower will do just fine. When they count the numbers it comes out to around 579W but the actual rate is 550W.The peak power is never used to rate a PSU but the maximum power is, and only about 3/4th of it used. So according to me you need to look at the Q-Tec 400W.

Thank you for your solution that you have provided. I has a look at you solution and I feel that I need to look at the PSU. I haven’t started to work on it yet but I will upgrade my to around 600-650W.With the K9A2 Platinum the system ran with minimal power configuration mode and not only the CPU but also the DRAM frequency automatically ran double slower. But for this I need to change the Q-Tec 400W.So probably I’ll go for the Enermax as it seems to be a very good option. I would once again thank you for your solutions.
