    Bug in Sandy Bridge

The news of the bug in the Intel CPU series 6 for Sandy Bridge (Bug in Intel chipset for Sandy Bridge, recall) has created a chain reaction involving all manufacturers of desktop computers, notebooks and motherboards. In addition to the calls, there will be no change in payment for goods and those who have already purchased the products. Somebody over there are having same issues? Please provide some solutions for these bugs. Hope that you will discuss on this topic in detail.

Re: How to solve bug in Sandy Bridge

We recall briefly the background: some days ago, Intel has officially announced that it had discovered a bug in the design of some 8 million chipsets, which could present a performance degradation over time of 3 Gbps SATA ports. The Santa Clara company has blocked the production and sale of the chipset with the same bug and has started the manufacture of non-defective chip, which will be available in late February and mid March. Mass production of desktop, notebook and motherboard chip Sandy Bridge (Intel Sandy Bridge: The second generation of Core) would then return to normal in April. Since the defective chips are available from 9 January, few consumers would be affected by this issue. For them, the car manufacturers have started the RMA.

HP announced that she had blocked the production line of computers based on Intel architecture on 31 January, and that after that date has blocked the distribution of products already conveyed to the sales channels. Same time, the world's largest PC initiated a program of repair or replacement of defective products, according to the preferences of end users. In a statement HP said that the problems are related to only a small percentage of HP PCs sold or ordered from the January 9, 2011, when Intel was made available on the market. For HP, the problem is mostly limited to some notebook and desktop consumer and commercial desktop model only in the EMEA region is affected. No other commercial desktop product that is shipping now brings this issue. Additionally, no business notebooks, HP ProLiant server or workstation will suffer.

Others who bought a Gigabyte motherboard with Intel 6 series may obtain replacement product or full refund. Who will be replacing the motherboard will need to contact your dealer and be prepared to wait for the Intel chips without bugs, and then must wait until April. The quickest and easiest path to follow, however, is to return the card and get back the amount paid to purchase. Will be accepted all motherboards that will be made in any condition, so even if you threw the original box, do not worry: they are not without objections. Update: This information, although reported from many web sources, have not yet been officially confirmed by Gigabyte. The company contacted us and assured that: With the full cooperation of Intel, Gigabyte is actively working to minimize the inconvenience to end users and resellers about this issue. A recent statement from Intel shows the month April 2011, the complete solution to the problems. Gigabyte will resume production and deliveries of motherboards with the new Intel 6 series chipset when Intel will make available. You can get further updates on their official website. Against this background, we do not recommend users to go to a dealer to return the motherboard involved - except for different problems, guaranteed by the laws to protect consumers - but wait for official announcements by the company, and as described will be announced via the official website.

MSI is on the same line of competitors with an official statement said that it has "identified and blocked lots of products" that could be affected by the bug of Intel. In addition, the Chinese company has "asked retailers to prevent the distribution and sale of MSI motherboards based on the 6 series chipset until this issue is resolved". MSI products that have been marketed since 9 January and who are affected by the bug of Intel motherboards are P67 and H67 series of notebooks and GT680. MSI has not yet defined the manner and timing for the repairs and any refunds, even if it is understood that you will not get replaced by a defective product is not April 1st, when Intel released the chip will be functional. More details will follow in the coming days.
