Overview of SAPPHIRE IPC AM3DD785G Motherboard

Due to other requirements and a similar platform, we do not now depart from the usual testing protocol. This SAPPHIRE IPC AM3DD785G is now quite the focus of our attention. Because of the mITX format is aimed primarily at HTPC users or those who want maximum performance in confined spaces. These users should also like to thank, as the demand motivated for this test. Since the Main Board, a part of our test ITX platform from the previous test, we want to even mention that the board courtesy of SAPPHIRE was kindly and this project only allowed. It is a mITX motherboard with a green PCB that consists of 6 layers for the highest stability. The color is chosen to indicate rather conservative and almost boring. But color is a purely subjective factor and will not be further evaluated. It follows the look on the layout of the Sapphire boards.

AM3 socket are the two memory slots that can accommodate up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Just to the right including SAPPHIRE has ordered the two fan connectors, one a 4-pin PWM connector and the second in the normal 3-pin version without PWM. The 20-pin ATX connector is located bottom right in the immediate vicinity of the additional 4-pin ATX 12V connector. Positioned directly below the two SAPPHIRE jumper to reset the BIOS and the associated password. But that is not the end, because the left are the four SATA ports and the single IDE port positioned. The lack of space is only one PCIe x16 slot available. Lies directly above the 8-pin BIOS EEPROM. In hiding, the two chips for the IGP and the Southbridge high at a 2.7 cm heat sink. The dimensions of the complete and secure chipset cooler will therefore be 47x27x24 mm (WxHxD). Sometimes the limited space is the biggest factor of compatibility problems. Of the radiator support are starting up only 2.5 and down only 7 mm distance. Thus it is particularly important when working memory difficulties. The position of the internal USB connector on the top left, in some cases cause they are poorly utilized.

Re: Overview of SAPPHIRE IPC AM3DD785G Motherboard

I am providing some BIOS information that can be useful for SAPPHIRE IPC AM3DD785G users. The AMI BIOS first refers to its version number and the corresponding date. The tab "Advanced" is the starting point to all major set points. These are the configuration of the CPU, SATA, IDE and USB settings, and an overview of the different sensors. The onboard interfaces here as well as optional TPM module can be influenced. The "CPU Configuration" provides only limited influence. The industry called for boards PowerNow function (Cool'n'Quiet) can be changed and determines whether a Downclocking is possible with voltage reduction or not. The two options for the HT-Link set the clock and the bandwidth. In the latter, one has bit the choice between 4, 8 and 16. At last you can manually change the reference clock. Our ratings are in irregular steps.

This SAPPHIRE IPC AM3DD785G offers extensive connectivity options though, so that even older IDE drives can be operated, but was omitted in favor of a tests on it. Thus, we believe that we are above all the SATA and USB performance. The latter provided for the AMD chip sets here and there for anger, since benefits were lower than those of competing products from Intel and nVidia. The IPC is AM3DD785G when comparing various benchmark results of other users with the SATA performance on the same level. At this point we refer again to the use of a 2.5" hard drive from Fujitsu. The performance is perfectly normal under the current of 3.5" models. Only the very high CPU utilization drops, but that can related to it that the HDD functioned as a system disk. The USB performance is higher compared to a laptop with Intel ICH8 solution in the middle a bit. Despite that, but not much done and so is the burst rate is still lower than other solutions from Intel and NVIDIA.

The built-in benchmark of Everest measures the memory bandwidth in the three disciplines of writing, reading and copying. In addition, there is a value for the latency within the memory. Memory gives the value for the memory, while the L1 and L2 cache value related to the latency in the CPU. If one values with the benchmarks from the usual tests comparing and especially that of the BIOSTAR TA785GE 128M , it is found that it achieved better results here in part. The comparison is interesting because the BIOSTAR motherboard uses the same chipset.

Although leaves a graphics benchmark for a motherboard with onboard graphics appear relatively unnecessary, then it hereby see a comparison value. In connection with the side port technology to enhance the connectivity of the graphics unit to main memory can be here quickly notice differences. Especially in the later we are still able to detect changes. Futuremark's benchmarks and its always something controversial. It became more frequent reports of driver optimizations and thus would be a benchmark fast nothing more value. Here it should serve as a rough starting point, how much power lies in the ATI Radeon HD 4200 IGP. Contrary to popular Geforce 7025 IGP from NVIDIA but you can deduct. The memory bandwidth is largely decisive for the performance. With less memory speed to break the measured values sometimes rapidly. An increase in contrast improves the result, but more on that later.
