The phenom II x2 555 has the 2 core run at a a little higher GHz, however your losing 2 cores (be able to be unlocked to 4 cores however it does not always occur). In my choice that more or less of a reduce than an upgrade however It will depend on the applications you are utilizing if it is a better cpu or not. Although in long period, your athlon ii x4 be supposed to be just well for what you are doing.

Phenom II will be faster in solo as well as dual threaded applications however in everything that is able to utilize more than 2 cores, the Athlon II X4 will be. The one upside although to the Phenom II X2 is that you be able to probably unlock the other two cores. However it is a chance of the draw thing. It could not unlock or it could unlock as well as be extremely unsteady. Or it could unlock as well as appear stable however gradually damage data. After that the last part is it could now unlock as well as be steady. It is hard to state what will occur.

Because you have a quad core, you would like to go quad or higher. Issue is that it is not sufficient of a jump in performance to give reason for it. If I were you, I would presently save a few money on the side until when Intel as well as AMD will be pushing out new CPUs. Intel’s will hit in January as well as AMD, well no one knows for certain. A few state Q2 2011 others declare Q32011. Either way it be supposed to drive the prices of present CPUs down, I recognize Intels new CPU will, so you be able to either obtain a new one or now build a new computer.

When Intel make public their fresh Sandy Bridge CPU’s. it will reason AMD to drive down their CPU cost consequently as to be competitive at their cost point vs performance. We could perhaps observe Phenom X4's like the 955 BE,965 BE. While Bulldozer hits the 955 BE, 965 BE, 970BE as well as even the Phenom X6's could be at extremely small cost just for clearance reason. If you would like to obtain one of these better performing CPU's now wait for a couple of months from at the moment or wait until Bulldozer appear as they could end up as sub $75 CPU's valuable to upgrade an grown-up AMD based computer.
