AMD Phenom II X3 740 vs AMD Athlon II X4 640

I have got confused between two processor while buying. Actually I just want to buy any one of them but I am not able to decide between both of them. You must be knowing the name of both the processors as you must have read the Title. I am having a Asus M2NE Board and I am wondering that paying more for the 640 is worth it or not.

The Phenom X3 II 740 would be as its name indicates a triple heart, clocked at 3.0 GHz, 200 MHz higher than the current Phenom X3 720 II . It would be equipped as his predecessor 6 MB of level three cache memory and a TDP of 95 W. The Phenom X4 820 is a quad for its part heart at 2.8GHz, it also provided 6 MB of cache and a TDP of 95 W. He succeeds meanwhile the Phenom X4 810.

Re: AMD Phenom II X3 740 vs AMD Athlon II X4 640

AMD always structured its product range to include light. New, higher clocked models with free multiplier added. Slow models disappear in the End of Life. Just look at the example of the Phenom X4 Black Edition 970 on. Instead disappear whole series of models, such as the 800 series, Deneb-based Phenom X4-II processors with 4 instead of 6 MiByte L3 cache. Now, the Phenom X3-II team has been cleaned up. The three previous models 705e, 710 and 720 BE are largely disappeared from the market and were replaced by the new Phenom X3 740 Black Edition. Its predecessor, called 720 BE were popular mainly because of reactivation of many models, the fourth core was so cheap and it came to a Quad Core.

Re: AMD Phenom II X3 740 vs AMD Athlon II X4 640

The AMD Phenom X3 740 Black Edition has a clock of 3.0 GHz and 200 MHz. Clocked faster than the previous top model. Aside the three CPU cores 6 MByte L3 cache and 512 KB L2 cache are (the latter per core). Production is the AMD Phenom X3 740 BE in 45nm and the TDP is 95 watts. It is the slightly older C2 stepping used. As you can see from the name Black Edition (BE), the new processor is therefore free selection of multiplier. In addition to the Die of the AMD Phenom X3 740 BE four cores were used, one of whom was disabled. Under certain conditions and with some luck can reactivate the fourth core.
