    Specifications of AMD Phenom II X6 1055T

    The new AMD, Phenom II X6 belonging to the family, better known by the codename "Thuban" have a die size significantly higher than that of their predecessors X4. You pass it by a well-346mm2 258mm2 of Deneb in Thuban. This is due to the core, it passes from four to six Core. The cache is always divided on 3 levels. 128KBytes are the first level (L1 Cache), which is responsible for half of the data management and the other half of the instructions for the 6 core. The second level (L2 Cache) 3MBytes counts, divided among the six that make up the core processor. We then 512KBytes per core, 50% more than Deneb. The third level (L3 Cache), is considered shared, and has 6MBytes. This may be, as needed, or use by a single core by all. So applications that do not fully exploit the processor can take advantage of the breadth of the cache. The software CPU-Z correctly detect all the features of the processor.

    Re: Specifications of AMD Phenom II X6 1055T

    The Phenom II X6 features an integrated memory controller (IMC) of dual-channel, compatible with DDR2-1066 and DDR3-1333. The motherboard that can support the CPU are all those with Thuban chipset AM2 + (following a BIOS upgrade) and AM3. Of this family of processors are part currently two models, the 1055T and 1090T Black Edition. There are the main technical details of the two processors, which are discussed in AMD Phenom II X6 1055T and 1090T BE. Upcoming leaving two other models, the 1035T and 1075T. The characteristics are the same, the only difference will reside in the operating frequency, which will be set at 2.6GHz and 3.0GHz. I will summarize below all the major features of the AMD Phenom processor family II X6:
    • Turbo Core Technology;
    • AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture;
    • AMD Balanced Smart Cache;
    • AMD Wide Floating Point Accelerator;
    • HyperTransport Technology;
    • Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology;
    • AMD Virtualization (AMD-V) technology with Rapid Virtualization Indexing;
    • AMD PowerNow! Technology (Cool'n'Quiet Technology);
    • AMD CoolCore Technology;
    • Dual Dynamic Power Management.

    AMD has implemented a technology similar to that introduced by Intel on its own CPU, this is the Core Turbo feature that allows you to increase the frequency of some core if you have certain situations of the other core idle. All this happens automatically without the user having to do anything. The operation of the Turbo Core AMD is "dynamic", because the CPU itself is able to understand when an application loads three or fewer core and therefore will act on the individual core frequencies increase and those used by relaxing the clock unused ones. To act on the Turbo Core frequency is to change the multiplier of the various core: in the case of the Phenom II 1055T is part of the default value of 14x (2800MHz) up to a maximum of 16.5x (3300MHz). Similarly the change is negative, in which the multiplier can reach a minimum value of 4x (800MHz). When using the frequency of the core will continue to vary independently according to the exploitation of the individual core part of the system.

    This technology is very useful, as applications can take advantage of a truly multi-core CPUs are still very few, so have some less core, but with a higher clock cycle, appears to be the winning move. With the program you can adjust the AMD OverDrive Turbo Core, changing the maximum multiplier used and the number of cores on which to act. Turbo Core AMD technology to work and make improvements in all different fields of use. We are satisfied with the gains obtained.

    I would like to provide information about AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture. This feature allows you to improve performance and efficiency of the system by going to directly link the various CPU core with integrated memory controller. It 'was designed to enable simultaneous 32 and both 64-bit. The integrated memory controller has been improved in order to increase application performance by dramatically reducing memory latency. The function HyperTransport Technology provides up to 16.0GB / s of bandwidth per processor peak. In this way you prevent the various bandwidth bottlenecks, in fact you have very 37GB / s of total bandwidth to processor system bus HyperTransport bus + memory ". Were shortened data access times for best results. This is thanks to 6MB of shared L3 cache and 512K L2 cache per core.

    The 128-bit floating point units (FPU) per core offer more rapidly performance and a superior quantity of data to process. A 16-bit link up to 4000MT / s. Up to 8.0GB / s HyperTransport I / O bandwidth and 16GB / s HyperTransport 3.0. Ben 37GB / s of entirety bandwidth to processor system bus HyperTransport bus + memory". The whole thing is easily translated into a considerable augment in performance. An elevated bandwidth for fast access to system memory, combined with a low-latency integrated memory controller, make certain that the performance amplify. It is guaranteed support for memory-type PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066), PC2-6400 (DDR2-800), PC2-5300 (DDR2-667), PC2-4200 (DDR2-533) or PC2-3200 (DDR2 SDRAM -400) on AM2 + motherboards. DIMM support up to PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066MHz) and PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333MHz) on AM3 motherboards. Up to 17.1GB / s memory bandwidth DDR2 and up to 21GB / s memory bandwidth DDR3.

    Processors Thuban are built on platforms with chipset AM2 + and AM3. All this makes them compatible with platforms dedicated to the "old" Phenom X4 II "Deneb". The top model, or the 890FX, as seen from the table is the schema, does not have integrated graphics, is built with 65nm process and is able to handle up to 42 PCI-Express. We can then afford a MultiGPU 2-16x/16x VGA to full band, with 3 or even 4 16x/8x/8x VGA VGA 8x/8x/8x/8x, of course, if your motherboard has enough PCI slots in use- e. This model has an IOMMU technology, a feature especially useful in virtualized environments. As we can guess, this takes on greater importance in the server rather than a desktop system. There is more of a chance then, that this chipset is also adopted on Opteron platforms.
