Overview of an AMD Athlon X2 4850e

When we last settled down to the most potent processors, with either two or four cores from AMD and Intel, it's time to go a different direction. They have also brought the current fastest processor with a thermal design power of just 45 watts into the house. Since, you guys explain many things in details, I thought to ask for some help over here. I hope that you members will help me soon, as usual..

An initial overview of the properties of an AMD Athlon X2 4850e usually provides a small tool CPU-Z. But the processor was the time of testing so new that only the basic characteristics of CPU-Z 1.44.2 were detected (the current CPU-Z 1:46 recognize its perfectly). The multiplier and the clock frequency, voted the tension and the size of the L2 cache have been read correctly. The BIOS of our Gigabyte Boards also recognizes the CPU after upgrading to the version "F4". The variety of current processors from AMD do the portfolio currently some very confusing, but should be adjusted gradually. In some areas, even four different processor cores also cavort with different L2 cache sizes, which is shared by two names. Then there is the factor that surrounded the AMD Athlon 64 X2 train to train 90 to 65 nm, which is partly double occupancy of the current names with the result.

Re: Overview of an AMD Athlon X2 4850e

AMD's new Athlon follows with his crooked memory settings the previous models, the half multipliers, but it looks even worse than previously. The goal to run the memory at 800 MHz is not achieved with all three tested CPUs. While the 2.5 GHz Athlon fast memory with one-seventh of the clock of the processor and responsive while 714 MHz in DDR mode come out of the 2.3 GHz speed, thanks to a subject divider of 6 faster at work. In DDR mode, this comes after a simple mathematical calculation of (2,300 MHz / 6) 2 at 766.67 MHz memory clock. It is true not well off the 2.1 GHz ultimately clocked AMD Athlon 4050e, which can claim, thanks in equal parts only DDR-700 for themselves. These differences are in some tests, but very clearly, so it is understandable that AMD has corrected this "gibberish" with the quad-core Phenom CPU and the still following new dual-core processors and / or will change. A comparison to a 2.5 GHz speed, "old" Athlon 64 X2 is not possible, as this in the F3-Stepping-made 90-nm processor does not support half multipliers. Our model X2 6000 + but we have already come to the test of the Phenom 9500 clocked at 2.2 GHz in order to compare the new to reveal the old architecture with the same clock frequency.

Our model X2 6000 + but we have already come to the test of the Phenom 9500 clocked at 2.2 GHz in order to compare the new to reveal the old architecture with the same clock frequency.
This 2.2 GHz are today once again useful because they are located exactly between the two smaller models, which demonstrates the difference between the steppings and the associated reduction of the L2 cache. Outlook also provides a small area of overclocking, where we have the 2.5 GHz Athlon 4850 with a TDP of 45 watts to the level of Athlon 64 X2 6000 + lifted with a TDP of 125 watts. No issue whether it's motherboard, memory, hard drive, peripherals, expansion cards, processor, network interfaces BIOS, Windows or DirectX is, SiSoft Sandra has widespread responds. For much of the hardware in the PC, there are also benchmark tests that can analyze the PC to its performance in evaluation with various allusion computers. All these values are almost merely theoretical and have modest relation to practice, however, processors can contrast well in their theoretical potentials.

While almost all the tests as expected to scale with the clock frequency, suggests the memory test as expected. The difference due to the operation of the divider actually identical memory appears immediately in the result. This has simply gone simply means that the 2.3 GHz speed processor the 2.5 GHz Athlon 4850e in the fast memory test suggests. In a further test of the bandwidth is, the memory, the associated motherboard and processor provide the tool Science Mark 2.0. This determines not only the bandwidth but the latency of memory. Furthermore, the cache of a processor be subject to inspection.
